Hi there, The only old school game like that in the franchise is the ''The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon''. However, you might look for this one ins stores: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. It's great to play with the kids, the game contains real figures, so it's even more fun to collect all the plastic figures and play them in the game. Your son will love the game, it's full of colour and action! :)
The only soundtracks that I can remember are mostly from RPG's... But you mentioned some great one's like Wipeout and Ridge Racer. For me is Medievil Resurection, I love those classic tunes :)
A lot of people don't like it, but in my case, I really like the game/franchise. Can never get tired of runing arround buildings through the cities : ) However I do know some friends who don't like the games. You are not alone!
