[QUOTE="ArisShadows"]Take it, hire a hitman, and get rid of whoever involved with the offer. And I win.

Don't you think a guy willing to give you A BILLION DOLLARS has enough disposable income to turn your little plan against you? Think about it.

[QUOTE="Trinitarian"]

My first counsole i ever owned was when i was 9 yrs old. It was the Atria 2600 with about 10 games. I have owned almost every console since then. Now i have a PS3/xbox 360 with about 50 games combined. For 1 billion dollars.... i would...(drumroll)....Dump every game i own and the habbit of gaming for ever. Real life is the best video game ever created, however, to enjoy it to the max you need cash which i don't have a lot of, so for now i settle for video games lol.

There's no respawn system.

Screw that.

Luckily there's no lag in real life though.

That's the only reason I ever die in video games

The graphics of real life are decent. 7/10.

Wouldn't hesitate. Could still play PS3 exclusives. Didn't say anything about watching them

Its this a burn on metal gear? -_-

Or watching others play?

Yep... lets just watch Metal Gear or Heavy Rain. Man those are great movies! :P

It's funny that you bring that up because the new Heavy Rain game is going to star Ellen Paige. As if these developers couldn't make it more obvious they are making movies, not games.

[QUOTE="themajormayor"]I already stopped playing games and wasn't offered anything. So I guess my answer et cetera.Midnightshade29
then why are you here? My answer would be yes, because with a billion dollars I can live the game in real life. Want a fps... setup my own painball themepark. Want melee sword fighting... hire a fencing instructor (a hot woman one...haha) to show me where to lunge. At that amount of money nothing is impossible, hell I could even take a trip to space.

Creating the experience in real life isn't the same as one in a game. Everybody has physical limitations. Main characters in video games know not of these physical limitations.

I don't think the thread will make 50 responses.

[QUOTE="TheFlameProof"]What started as a simple question about video games has transformed into an existential discussion about life.Zeviander
For once, it isn't a boring, run-of-the-mill, troll thread in System Wars.

okay. now that you know that you would give up games for money. will it be weird going back into this forum and talk about video games?

[QUOTE="TheFlameProof"][QUOTE="Blabadon"]Not until they reach the highest level of imitation. As fun as NBA 2K13, put it next to a real basketball game and it is far away from touching the amount of things that happen in that. Because they have to imitate something we see everyday, they often get blown by quicker as compared to new IPs. It doesn't help that most of them are yearly. I think FIFA would have the best chance though.Blabadon
You don't need to be perfect to win GOTY, just better than any other game that came out that year. I think NBA 2K13 has done that.

But is it better collectively to GameSpot's editors, as compared to one of the freshest experiences of the generation like Dishonored? Especially when the sports fans on the staff can easily see that the real game of basketball is not emulated in the games as well as it can be and that it's still very similar to last year's game in gameplay?

Well obviously the game is going to feel somewhat similar to last years but you can say that about any game being similar to other games in the genre. Sports games make micro-improvements every year. Regular games in other genres make improvements every couple of years. So when you think about it, sports games and regular games are improving at about the same rate but sports game improvements SEEM less dramatic because you get them as they are being innovated. This shouldn't mean they should be not counted for GOTY runnings.
