I had fun with it, but it's definitely a case of liking Transformers enough to overlook the low-budget production values. I assume Activision demanded a movie tie-in, otherwise we may have had a third decent Cybertron game. I'd give it a 6 or 7, honestly (from the perspective of a huge TF fan). If you're just some random guy who doesn't care about the license, I think a 5 is more appropriate.
That box art looks awesome! I'm so tired of "dude-bro pandering" ruining everything. Those guys only buy Call of Duty, so why muck up every other game with it? They're not going to buy them anyways. A perfect example is Insomniac's own Fuse. When it was Overstrike people cared. Then they generified it and the thing sold like garbage. The opposite of what Borderlands did, and the opposite of its success.
Also, I hate when numbers only matter to the winning side every time. Companies need to make money off their consoles, but we in the public know way less than we need to unless it's something glaring like the Wii U.
If sales mattered this early, the PS3 would've been considered an utter sales disaster for a couple of years. By the end of the generation it was caught up to the 360.
My wife bought the 360 version, which I went and picked up at the midnight open (along with Batman: Arkham Origins for myself). I liked AC2 and Brotherhood, but couldn't stand the other games in the series. After seeing the emphasis Black Flag has on being a pirate and naval warfare, I'm sold. I'm going to pick up a copy for the Xbox One at launch.
