@amaneuvering It wouldn't be a nintendo gamespot article without them trying to shoot them down in some way. That comment makes absolutely no sense in the context of this article. The only fair comparison would be how it compares to the DS in the same time frame.
@emptycow @Senact Yes, I agree, but I suspect the 3DS is going to continue to sell strong in Japan and do better in NA, it has a very strong lineup coming over the next few months and I expect that to continue (with the usual slow periods now and then).
As for the Vita, I strongly believe a price cut in NA would move a lot more units, especially since it's going to play a more substantial roll with the PS4. It's a great unit, it just needs some more software and a bit more competitive pricing, IMO.
I can see why some people are bothered by the constant articles about Wii U losing 3rd party support if you can only afford to buy 1 system. I've been fortunate enough to own all the latest gen systems so this kind of news doesn't bother me, I'll just buy it for one of the other 3 systems. Nintendo will bounce back when their 1st party games start showing up, just as it did for the 3ds.
If Nintendo didn't have it's huge first party library of games, this kind of news would have me think they were in trouble, but fact is... Wii outsold last gen, DS has outsold basically everything, 3DS is outselling Vita and I have a feeling the Wii U will accomplish the same thing eventually, or at least compete.
Competition is good, and I hope all 3 companies survive and continue to make great games.
Sigh... I'm getting sick of these articles. This isn't rocket science that requires millions of dollars worth of research. A mentally healthy adult can witness violence in video games and movies/media and know not to go out and kill people. In order for that person to be mentally healthy (brain disorders aside), parents need to take responsibility for their upbringing.
I have every modern console and games ranging from Dora to Mario to God of War. My children (4 and 2) are never allowed to watch or experience in anyway games inappropriate for their age. Obviously there is some discretion as everyone has a slightly different opinion on what is acceptable. I allow my kids to watch Mario, but perhaps someone might think the idea of stomping cartoony turtles is too violent, however I do not. But that range should never suggest Grand theft auto is fine for a 4 year old.
@Liber8or You know, as much as people want EA to crash and burn, it would have a huge impact in the gaming world. Better they just adjust their practices
