What I want to know is: if I register a game on my profile and HDD, does then mean that my girlfriend couldn't play it on her profile on the same XBOX One? Also, whatever happened to the joy of swapping games with a mate, or taking your game over to a mate's house to play? This gen is killing social gaming, and it'll turn us all into headphoning loners who don't go out. See if game developers brought out more 'MUST BUY ON DAY ONE' games without stiffing us on day one DLC etc, the preowned games market wouldn't be such a target. The companies themselves are causing this issue.

Also, if they delete your data if you trade in the game, so you have to pay twice if you want to buy it again, I'm out. I'll stick with Iwata and Miyamoto, they at least have always focussed on the gamer, even at a cost to themselves.

Finally, a first person shooter than is a bit more cerebral than 'get to the checkpoint, shoot the soldiers, get to the checkpoint' Great storytelling, awesome level design and character, the best FPS released in a long time.

Capcom have really shot themselves in the foot on this. Gamers have long memories, and it just means that future Capcom games will always have a cloud over them, no matter how good they are. Gamers will buy Street Fighter 75 thinking, how will I be ripped off this time?

If DLC offers something worthwhile, I'll buy it, whether its already on the disc or not. I'm not a gamer that cares much for extra characters, weapons or maps. I prefer DLC that gives you extra levels or missions within whatever universe the game is set. I think DLC for extra maps, weapons or characters is blatant money grabbing by companies who should be making such things available to unlock from the start. If you want to chuck in extra missions or levels later down the line, then that makes sense. I agree that a company hiding DLC on a disc without telling people is dishonest, but its not necessarily a bad method of producing DLC. I think the issue is pricing. Why pay $10 for something thats already there? If you could stagger it, maybe $1 or $2 per level or character, it would allow gamers autonomy over what parts they actually want. Why download a whole DLC pack when you only really want the single player mission, or the multiplayer maps. More choice given to the gamer with this element might regain some faith in these companies. Or we look to Nintendo, who don't do DLC and allow gamers to experience their material in a full game. Pokemon would suck if you could download an extra 50 to catch every couple of months. Maybe that's a business model other developers should look at

Looks good, nothing wrong with an image revamp every so often. As long as you don't have to take it down for two weeks due to 'technical difficulties'

The best soundtrack I've ever come across was that of Brutal Legend, they couldnt have made that better for the setting and style of the game. Also games like Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64 both had great (if slightly similar) soundtracks that are still immediately recognisable

I think thats what has always made Nintendo more popular than its competitors is that it always tries to be different and work with new technologies to build more original hardware and software. Instead of concentrating on graphical power or things like that, it jumped forward with motion control and 3D. Surely we want this kind of innovation in the gaming industry, instead of this daft 'my graphics are more powerful than your graphics' posturing.

This is a great article. Too often you get so called 'journalists' picking up on something such as this and running with it, even though their work clearly lacks a context, proper investigation and reasoned argument. Yes Duke Nukem the man is sexist, but surely we could apply that to many other video game characters throughout the ages. Surely in this day and age, Mario isn't chivalrous in saving Peach, because as a female and equal member of society, she doesn't need special treatment? Its very easy to create ridiculous statements from such simple premises if you have the time and the particular slant

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood had some great potential to use the Pope and Cesare after the events of Assassin's Creed 2, but the Pope seemed like a total lame duck, which was disappointing. The best villain in recent gaming has to be (combined) Bill, Dutch and Javier from Red Dead, there was so much detail put into the background of their gang and the betrayal of John Marston
