There's actually nothing wrong with this. I don't really like it either, but let's be honest. There's a reason why so many of us say "just buy the standard edition". We know it's enough. So for people who want to pay more, let them. The amount of money that goes into games like this is pretty crazy. The only thing I really don't like is the bonus story content, but we all know we'll eventually get to play that anyways.

This is just nothing new and not really a big deal when you think about it.

@zippyzee22: No, to save money and get everything. That's what GOTY versions typically have. All the bonus in-game content + a cheaper price and less bugs. The less bugs part might be a negative if you remember the amazing glitches from the original Red Dead Redemption tho.

@btotheotothejtothef: It's not about the fans. Free updates made them much more money than selling content directly. Free updates keep fans playing. The more people playing, the more people will spend. It's a brilliant system. Nothing was actually "free". You do a lot of grinding for those updates. If you didn't want to grind, Rockstar provided shark cards for people to purchase. You couldn't really just choose to do neither and play casually on GTAO. Why? Because that guy over there has an explosive sniper rifle and that other guy has a jet, or a tank, or something else that would destroy you if you're not keeping up with grinding or buying.

Free updates are nice, but don't be naive and think they "put the fans first". It's always about the bottom line for huge companies like R*/TTWO. And the system is brilliant because it works, but it also means people like you will think they care about fans. Evil genius stuff right there. Still one of my favorite developers, but it's hilarious how many fans think R* has this altruistic goal of just making fans happy. They just like being really profitable. "Free" updates are easy money when they come with a lot of grinding.

@otterbee: Not necessarily true. Yes, it's about nostalgia and it's a collector thing, but who wants to collect shitty hardware?

@gts-r288: Yeah, but ATGames is making the Atari consoles too. I don't know why they're going to ATGames to make their hardware. Sega and Atari could actually do quite well in that market if they produce a good console.

Season 2 was weird af. I don't know what that was. Mahershala Ali is great tho. I would definitely watch. He's a talented guy. He was actually a decent rapper too. It's pretty funny he has a line in one of his old songs that's something like "cottonmouths can't spit them out". Predicting the future...lol

@Iamkalell: "they". They're different players. Nothing will ever stop online cheaters. Stopping single player mods for a game like GTA just fucks up R*/TTWO's image. GTA will always be a game you can mod. No other option.

The game is way too successful on PC and R*/TTWO don't want to lose those customers. PC sales alone are insanely high. The best thing they could do is officially support modding and maybe work with the OpenIV guys or create their own mod tools for the single player mode.

Looks cool, but way too pricey. To be fair tho, the normal ones cost way too much anyways.

@truth0101: Why play GTA V? You don't need it. There are thousands of other games to play.

People play games because they want to. They mod because they want to. This isn't a hard concept to grasp so don't pretend to be dumb. I know you're smarter than that. GTA V is an open world sandbox game and you're wondering why people mod it?

I understand where they're coming from, but I think I would rather them just do better next time. Figure it out instead of giving up. Every game doesn't need to be open world, but it actually makes perfect sense for a sniper game.
