Also after skimming back over this that part about jihad was bullshit.

Extreme persecution is understandable as a root for such violent teachings but does not stand up as a legitimate excuse. The Jews have suffered persecution generation after generation and still teach and advocate peace.

We were given the permission to fight back, if someone came to your house and try to kill you and your family, i'm sure you would use your common sense, and i'm not sure if you're serious about the Jews lol, especially with what they are doing today as we speak.

Yeah that doesn't wash. In the highly unlikely instance that a person chose to enter into my house purposefully in order to hurt me or my family, and after hiding and trying to avoid conflict they still come at us so that we have to strike out in self defense, I would hope I would be acquitted but only after answering for my actions in a court of law. A person being threatening to me, even in my own house, is still a person with human rights and it doesn't give my carte blanche to be a murderer. 'An eye for an eye' is not the way to build society. And the main point of all of this is the debate around jihad is the fact that it isn't about retaliation in the face of prosecution but actually about extremist Islamists threatening and dissenting against Western cultures under the ersatz jihad banner.

That video was fairly interesting and I did watch it to the end, but it is a reactionary video protesting against ignorant observations, and so doesn't really ring true with me. Also I don't believe in God so comparing extreme Islamic ideas with similarly violent Christian ones didn't float my boat either.

The main part of the Islamic religion that I have a problem with is systematic inequality between sexes and he didn't even touch that point.

Well my personal opinions run as thus:

I strongly feel that if and when a person chooses to live in a new country and adopt it as their homeland then they should make a distinct effort to integrate - learning the language, mingling with locals and such.

However I also feel that any country that adheres to the European Court of Human Rights should encourage such integration while still being careful to not impinge on the cultural nuances and traditions of an immigrant society.

Genuine Sharia courts acting harmlessly in a traditional fashion to solve minor disputes in a Muslim community are perfectly legitimate in my opinion and certainly fall under the UK's promise of religious tolerance, but Muslims living in the UK are subject to the law here and must act within it, and any extreme courts that force accused to attend involuntarily or dealt cruel or unusual punishment are acting illegally according to our laws and should be prevented from occurring.

Similarly Sharia courts should not be allowed to decide on criminal matters, which should also go through the British law courts.

I think the line is simply that any religion should act freely, so long as they aren't acting illegally.

The problem is that these Sharia courts tend to be very secretive and wish to act within their own circles without outside or western observation and influence, and that is the main problem with Islamic integration in my opinion. In order for Sharia courts to have full legitimacy they also have to be completely transparent, and until they manage that somehow, their secrecy will always seem sinister since it looks like they are hiding things.

Um I've heard nothing of the 'huge problem' TC mentions.

But the UK in particular should focus on having efficient and fast border controls. For the past 10 years we've just had an utter mess instead.
