[QUOTE="darkspineslayer"] Who says I'm whining? I'm just calling out TC for being a dip. PC gaming has clear benefits. I don't care much about them. I don't care to spend an hour figuring out why Starcraft 2 refuses to load. Why would I do most of my gaming in a way I don't care for?darkspineslayer

You prefer to wait 4-6 weeks for your PS3 to come back after it stops reading discs, or for your xbox to come back after rrod? Didn't think so. The issue you speak doesn't even being to be a problem. Even if it manifests, any high school student can fix it these days, unless your IQ rivals that of a goldfish.

My PS3 has never been sent away for repair, and I don't own a 360 anymore for that reason. Your argument is just as circumstantial as mine, I fixed the issue with Starcraft with little more than some google searches, but it still pissed me off.

Also, and please try to wrap your head around it this time, I clearly stated that I do not care for PC as a gaming platform, dispite the advantages that may be had. Personal opinion. The possibility exists that people don't care for PC gaming.

That was my only purpose, to make it clear to you how stupid your argument was. I suceeded in that.

You can believe PC gaming is the best. That's fine. But being PC only means you're missing out on A LOT of great games. PC gaming only might be fine with you but it's by no means the best way to go.vashkey

No one has time to play all the games that are released these days. Might has well enjoy the ones that you can play on the best gaming platform.

Why is there a box of tissues there?

So much for "I like to relax and game on a couch" argument from consolites. Any other arguments against PC being supreme?

Last week I recieved an HP laptop as a gift for my birthday. I had the perception like 50%+ of people that because it is a laptop it would not be able to do anything but word processing and internet browsing. Oh how wrong I was.

It has an AMD APU A8 inside it. So I decided to try some game demos out...and wow. I was able to play Bioshock on HIGHEST settings and at 60 frames per second and above. Call of duty 4 ran absolutely fine. Dirt ran absolutely fine. In fact any current gen PC game I tried ran absolutely fine either at 30fps or above (usually the better made games like Valve games). Battlefield 3...no probs...etc

I finally tried out Crysis and was able to play it on High settings at 24-30 fps or medium to High at 30 fps.

Thats not all...I found out this laptop was to my astonishment an entry level laptop...(the higher ends go to AMD A10s)

I conclude:

Intel are scurge of industry - they produce over priced processor junk with their lame intergrated graphics capable of nothing. No innovation whatsoever unlike AMD who are continually pushing APU's which are capable of a lot without the need for $$$

nvidia are scurge of industry - over priced graphics cards and a company who needs the like of EA to show off titan but only 0.01% of gamers can afford - pathetic

Hermits - the worst. They give out the false perception (usually indirectly) that graphics mean everything. That having the best graphics card is a MUST. Really you are only harming your industry by shying away gamers.

Good Day

Could you provide a link to the laptop you are talking about? I would love to see it.

[QUOTE="Sali217"]No one except computer nerds buy anything based on specs anymore. In this day and age features are far more relevant.kraken2109
Can't have good features without good specs. Software evolves as hardware evolves. Look at smartphones.

Consolites only try to make the specs argument irrelevent because they know right now they have 8 year old hardware and the new hardware they are getting is already 4-5 years behind. So they will not touch the subject with a 10 foot pole.

However, it was hilarious seeing all of the PS4 fanboys who had no idea what the difference between DDR and GDDR was cry supremacy for a while. To them, Sony had skipped a generation of DDR4 and straight to DDR5 :P

Name one good feature that a console has that PCs do not and cannot have?

[QUOTE="Omnisystem"]

Since I'm seeing this in every thread concerning PS4 and PC and am relatively sure I'm losing IQ points over reading posts from people who have absolutely zero idea what DDR or GDDR is, let me enlighten you.

PCs use DDR (Double Data Rate); currently DDR3. GPUs in PCs use GDDR (Graphics Double Data Rate); currently DDR5.

PS4 will use GDDR in place of DDR.

GDDR5 is BASED on DDR3. GDDR5 =/= DDR5. We will not see DDR5 for a few years as even DD4 is not mainstream. The FIRST CPU to support DD4 (Haswell) will be released this year.

Now, as far as people claiming PS4 being ahead of the PC because of GDDR5, it is laughable at best. Allow me to offer some perspective.

PCs have been using DDR3 since 2007. GDDR5, which again, is BASED on DDR3, since 2008. That makes PS4 5 years late to the party by the time it comes out.

I don't know of any PC that uses 8GB GDDR5. PS4 uses 8GB DDR5 hahahaha, PC is the first and not PC's to use this much DDR5.

Fact.

and yet the PS4 still can't out perform a 680, 670, 590,7950,7970, or even a 7870.

Fact.

[QUOTE="Tessellation"] for graphics they're the same thing.Tessellation

Elaborate because I'm pretty sure they are two different types of hardware.

because we don't have ddr5 for system RAM,in theory DDR5 doesn't exist and for GPU GDRR5 and DDR5 are the same thing, there is even cards that come labeled as 1gb of DDR5.

NO. GDDR5 and DDR5 are NOT the same thing for GPU. DDR5 doesn't exist, yet. DDR4 is next up, but it will only START being manufactured this year. Since DDR started to be marketed in 2007, it took 5-6 years to get to DDR4. Meaning we likely won't see DDR5 until 2017+.

If you read my original post, you would know that GDDR5 is just DDR3 optimised for graphics. It is RAM that is BASED off of DDR3.

so you are basically saying PC/720 is already a generation behind? Gotcha.

I see what you did there! Not sure if you realize though that making yourself look stupid in public is generally not recommended.
