"Extra content" tends to mean stuff that could have easily been included on the disc (and in some cases actually is) but ends up being sold as DLC or a pre-order bonus. Given the market power that's been consolidated by a small cohort of publishers, this is easily something they can force on consumers without providing any content or services for us in return.

In other words, he thought he could release an unfinished game with only hype to back him up. We're lucky Valve insisted on refunding dissatisfied buyers. This is the same guy who brought us Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing. Don't trust him with your money again.

Ten to one, this game will at least have us kill a Jedi.

@Zelda99 That alone doesn't concern the publishers. Physical distribution will die out sooner or later. The problem is that a majority of the US has terrible internet and the telecom companies aren't jumping at the opportunity to alleviate slow speeds and bandwidth caps. Ultimately, it's the present reliance on physical distribution that will prevent Microsoft and Sony from prohibiting used game sales, at least for the next eight years. Maybe by that time console gamers will wake up and see how much they're being nickle-and-dimed vis a vis the PC market, that is if PC gaming won't have been lost to Zynga in eight years' time.

Used game sales or no, the 360 and PS3 are the last consoles I'll ever buy. I'm ashamed to say it's taken me 10+ years of gaming to realize the PC is the best platform in all regards.

Origin isn't that bad. It's more lightweight and less intrusive than Steam. That said, there's no way I'm siding with EA on any of its business practices.

Nearly every game I bought prior to 2009 I can load up from a disc and enjoy it the same as day one. Today, every game I have is either an MMO or it's loaded through Steam. I'm sure we all remember the guy who was suspended from DAII, a single-player game. Call me a luddite, but it's a lot more comforting to have everything you need to play a game within a physical medium.

The combat is certainly better than Oblivion, but not as great as I had hoped. Still, I can put up with subpar combat knowing all the great things Bethesda has packed in.

I was a huge fan of COD in '05-'08, but the series has gone so far downhill. The gameplay has become cliched and the multiplayer is filled with gimmicks. The Battlefield games have never quite done it for me, but DICE has done a much better design job and continues to innovate the FPS genre.
