I only had one overheat problem. That was due to me housing the 360 within an enclosed cabinet, adjacent to my cable box and DVD player, with little to no circulation.

After that, Iput the 360 in an open area (and raised it about 1/2 inch on four wooden feet so as to keep the underside cool), and since then, I haven't had a single overheat problemin the last three years (even after leaving it on accidentally for 48+ hours).

As long as you keep the fans clear and the console clean, you'll be fine.

I pretty much did the same thing, though I used 1" wood blocks rather than bottlecaps. The bottom is cooler than a menthol smoking Christopher Walken.
