I have a 250, and I'm nowhere near to filling it out. It's a little ridiculous to say that you'll fill up 160 gigs with game saves. At most you'll take up maybe 50 gigs.

Even if you want to play movies on your console, you can stream them wirelessly from a PC, and you can get a terrabyteof hard drive space for a computer for about $70 now.

Possibly this will be a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway...I've been thinking about buying a PS3 for awhile now, and with the price drop, I may just go for it. I'm only going to be using it for solo gaming, so no online multiplayer or anything. Having read all of that stuff about PSN being hacked, I'm a little reluctant to get involved with all of that, storing my credit card info on it, etc.

My question is, how necessary is all of the online connectivity and what role does it have in the overall PS3 experience? Like, can I just pop a disc in and sit down and play, like I do with my PS2, or am I going to have to install a bunch of stuff and get online first or whatever?

You'll make a profile and an account to play online, but there really isn't any reason to put in personal information. I've always used fake names and addresses for online accounts. If you see something you'd like to buy on the marketplace, you can buy PSN cards from any major retailer.

My brother bought the 40 shortly after release. I enjoy my 250 slim though :)

The most realistic games are probably going to be the ones that are based on reality. Forza, sports games, etc.

I give free /facepalms to whoever says Gears of War or Call of Duty.

Unless you think Michael Bay movies are pretty grounded in reality.

Basically Halo is it. I don't know why people keep listing Valve games, they're not exclusives.

And in case you didn't know, the original Bungie is now a multiplatform developer in conjunction with Activision, and while Halo is owned by Microsoft, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw something similiar to the Halo multiplayer experience popping up for the PS3 (or a future Playstation platform) in the future.

Skyrim. It isn't even up for debate.

I would think if publishers were that worried about used game sales, they'd stop making promotional deals with the biggest used game retailer of all: Gamestop. I think it's just an excuse to make a few extra bucks.

If you're offline, you can still use your gamertag profile. As long as you're using that, you'll still get achievements on your tag, and it'll update publicly once you connect online.

Your achievements don't really serve any purpose. Not worth worrying about.

For some people, and obviously the TC, it does matter.

Yeah...not true. Even if big publishers like EA want to tack on extra crap modes to make a game more "replayable," there will always be smaller companies opting to make a great single player experience instead.

If you're going to play any of them, 2 was the only one that was good.
