Since the price drop has arrived I'm going to get a PS3 but I don't know which one I should get. I'd like to get the 160GB, which is $250, but I'm not sure. Would it be wiser to get the 320GB, which is $299? Or if I went with the 160GB would I be okay? Are they things I need to buy before I get is (SD cards etc, etc) or can I just buy it and not worry about anything else?

Any help would be apperciatied.

You'll be okay with 160gb because you can always upgrade the HDD later on. I replaced my 120gb HDD with a 500gb one. Now i have a too much memory lol.

I would say it depends if you plan on putting stuff on your ps3 like movies, songs, pictures etc. If not, 160gb would be enough for just gaming or whatever. Like I'm looking towards a 320gb because I plan to use it to watch movies instead of streaming them over my laptop.

Yeah, I won't be doing all that. All I want it for is to be able to play Monster Hunter Portable 3rd on my PSP online and Dark Souls, and many other games. :D

You should get the 320 gig for $300 because it comes with inFamous 2.

Do you happen to know how long that bundle will last for? I'm not familiar with ps3's bundle lifetime.

No I don't know when it will end but probably for a couple months or more if I had to guess.

But if he is getting a PS3 he hasn't played inFamous 1 and that game is crucial to the whole inFamous story

They explain pretty much every single detail about infamous 1 the moment the game starts.

Get the 320. Newer games are calling for a lot more memory space. Oddly enough.

I have a 250, and I'm nowhere near to filling it out. It's a little ridiculous to say that you'll fill up 160 gigs with game saves. At most you'll take up maybe 50 gigs.

Even if you want to play movies on your console, you can stream them wirelessly from a PC, and you can get a terrabyteof hard drive space for a computer for about $70 now.

You'll be just fine with a 160. Just uninstall games if you're not playing them, same with PSN titles.

You can always upgrade your HD later if you really need to.

Hey man, I'd really recommend that InFamous 2 bundle. The InFamous franchise is really one of the top tier exclusives on the Playstation 3, so it'd be a great value to get that. 320 GB is a lot of memory but no harm in getting more than you need. ALSO, do not forget the 30 free days of Playstation Plus. Why does this mean anything? Because in the next month two highly anticipated betas are coming out for PS Plus members only. Resistance 3 MP beta comes out on 8/23 and Assassins Creed Revelations beta comes sometime early September. Betas are a good and free way to see whether you'll buy those games down the line.

But whatever you decide to buy, welcome to the Playstation family :D.

Well, I just got the Infamous 2 bundle since my PS3 just YLOD. I would recommend it because honestly its worth the extra $50. Double the hard drive, a $60 game, and 30 Days PSN Plus. But, you'll still be fine with the 160GB if you don't want to spend the $50.

Yeah this sounds like a great deal if you can do it, but 160GB is plenty. I had a 60GB for years before going with a 120GB slim. The 60GB would fill up every now and then, but I would just delete the game data (not save data) that gets installed for games I dont play anymore. I have a decent amount of music on my PS3, but not a lot of movies or TV shows at all. If your into buying movies and TV shows off PSN, then you might want the 320GB just to be safe. It also depends on whether you get digital versions of games off PSN instead of disks. Again, you can delete the games and installed game data your not playing and re-download them later if you want. Just keep the save data which doesnt eat up much space at all.

My 120G is full. I never expected to fill it, but last night when I tried to install "MoH Frontline" it said "No Room at the Inn" so if you think you're gonna go nuts on game purchases and don't think you can manage a little tech later get a bigger HDD... But I agree with others who speak of upgrading the HDD down the line. Sony for the win on the decision to allow that sort of tinkering!

Here's one of the many vids on the YouTubes, if you want to see what's involved.

Cheers!
