Another dumb comment. He doesn't like the fantasy novel of the last 20 years. WHAT DID HE READ THEM ALL IN HIS SPARE TIME? MAYBE HE DID INSTEAD OF WORKING ON TF2 FOR THE PAST TEN YEARS AND THAT IS WHAT CAUSED THE DELAY.

A writer who hates Star Wars? I guess he won't be working for George Lucas. What an idiot. Even if you didn't like SW a professional would keep it to himself. Why foreclose such opportunites? Further, why put down a property that many, many Valve fans are likely to love so much. Such a statement is likely to alienate many. Worse, from a writer's perspective SW is brilliant. It captures the timeless genre of mythos in storytelling and brings it to the mainstream by the use of futuristic technology all the while staying true to the concept of such mythology by stating the story happened a long time ago in a place far, far, away. Valve must feel sick that he said this stupid gaffe and he likely has gotten himself in a lot of trouble. I agree with that other post that said I feel like throwing my orange box away.

And then there's this guy. I can hear him grunting, panting, bumping the table as he types his specs out. For goodness sake show some restraint. I know you are in love but love is more than the physical aspects of a computer. You can love your console, but it don't make me bump in the night: "falconian_uk My System Specs MB........= MSI K8N sli with nforce 4 chipset with dual Agp slots CPU.......= Athlon 64 X2 Dual-core Proddessor 4200+ mem.......= X4 1gig pc 3200 life time warranty Gpu.......= ATI Radeon X1900XT 512 mem HDD.......= 250gig sata 200gig sata 180gig ide 40gig ide 40gig ide 40gig ide 20gig ide DVD.......= DVD rewritable model LG dual layer writable 2nd DVD...= Liteon dvd rewritable Tablet....= Intuos 9X12 Gfx tablet Power.....= hec Win Power Ultra Quite 550w Keyboard..= Logitech cordless Mouse.....= Logitech G5 (can't find a G7 in the Philippines) Modem.....= Dsl modem speed touch 530 with 768 Kbs connection (I know to slow) Sound.....= Connected to Panasonic 5 DVD Changer 7300w speaker system 7.1 surround system Consoles have always fallen behind the PC and will continue to do so, A good PC is worth splashing out for, if you want the best of the best. Pc's are always falling in price, and you have the advantage of getting ahead of the consoles every time, people keep saying PC's are dead, well guess what! the PC is till around and kicking consoles butts all the time, yes the price is sometimes high, but look at the cost of consoles...... they get higher and higher every time there is a new console (PS3) Lets not forget what you can do on a PC! : you can't create levels on a console : you can't play music and download/create levels/and burn DVD/and do renderings in the background.... all at the same time.....I can on my PC, and more. Now Pc's even get grat phisics with these new cards comming out, and the options to upgrade are far superior on a PC. Don't get me wrong, consoles have their place, I have a psx 1/2, but no one uses them, they sit in the corner gathering dust, everyone wants to be on the PC in my home, and when Blue-ray arrives, there will always be drives made for the PC. I work on my PC, I cant work on consoles, game players may make a living on consoles, but more people make a living on PC's."

And this one: "As for the debate on PC or 360, it really does depend on your job (or your parents job). But then you can get good bargains pretty cheep if you hunt. For example I bought a bfg7800GTX OC when the 7900GTX first came out and the final cost to me was $100 AU or about $75 US, but it really is research that a lot of people are to lazy to do." Cough, bullhockey, cough, bullhockey, cough, bullhockey. Prove it. And please no ebay claims!

I found this post, I guess this is an "average" pc user: "saintR Umm. I was able to run the demo of Prey on PC on widescreen with minimum tweaking. Anyone who is familiar with the Doom 3 engine can do it. r_mode -1, r_customwidth xxx, r_customheight yyy, vid_restart... do a google on widescreen gaming and there are plenty of workarounds for Doom 3 engine based games. Q4, Prey, the upcoming ET:QW. I'm sure GameSpot staff isn't ignorant but native support is built-in the engine, just need to know the commands. My system spec: A64 3000+ o/c 3800+, 2GB DDR400, GeForce 7800 GTX. I upgrade my system on intervals of 6 months. Every 6 months I look around to see if there's anything I want to upgrade. If the upgrade is not worth it then it's put off for another 6 months. I haven't done anything in the past 12 months. Every upgrade is on average $300." Anyone else find this post to be a bit ridiculous as "advice" to pc user. Also, I doubt he built this baby on the "$300" every six months plan. As that video card and cpu each cost well over $300. At some point every year you are putting big money to keep feeding the beast. However, the console, it is on the five year plan. Depending on the TV, and let's be fair you don't just play video games on that HDTV. Just like you use your pc for example to surf the web or post on gamespot. I find the $300 every six month pretty much not possible to actually keep on the upgrade pace. For example, the next Battlefield pc games will be huge hogs. Your CPU will have to go or your game card will need SLI. Both over $300 bucks.

So here's another question. Does the pc market expect the pc user to always buy into the next gen pc games that are resource hogs requiring the pc user to upgrade or simply scrap their pc? Just like the console gamer?

Sorry about the typo I meant to say, that you "cannot" surf the web on the 360. Sorry about that.

Apparently, there is a lot of anger directed at those who don't believe you can build a better pc for the same price. Why? Does it matter that much. Most gamers would probably like to own both a pc and a 360. You can surf the web on the 360 ... yet. I suppose that functionality is worth it's wait in gold. A 360 is fun gaming device. A pc is multi-functional device. They are apples and oranges. However, if games are what we are talking about a $400 gaming device is likely to garner a bigger share of the profitable market in the business of selling games. That's were the big money is. Whining about power is a waste. We all know in our hearts that the cpu in the 360 is next gen, but it's graphics card is soon to be middle of the road. However, the 360 is a lot cheaper as a gaming device. Argue all you want that there are more pc games, but there aren't more pc games that are as profitable as 360 games. That is what the market is about. Not whether or not you can build the pc gaming device cheaper. I suppose there are those that disagree, but I see the sitution much more than just I can build a better mouse trap for the money. Opinions?

Posters have been claiming that they could build a pc system for less money than the 360 (not including the screen, as you got to buy a flat screen for the PC too) and get the same performance; how true is this claim?
