Last year, I bought an HP desktop that came with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 on a separate installation disc.
Yesterday, I had to do a factory restore so today I am trying to reinstall Microsoft Office using the disc.
The problem is that the disc is not being recognized. I know the disc drive works because other DVDs and CDs work fine.
So, instead of using the disc, I just opened the Microsoft Office application from the Start Menu (Windows 7). When I opened it that way, it asked me if I already owned Office or not. I said yes and entered the Product Key from the back of the disc packaging.
It appeared to install properly, but when I opened Word and Excel for the first time after reinstalling, the system did not ask me to activate the software.
Should I be concerned about this? The instructions on the disc packaging say that if I do not activate the software within 30 days, it will be downgraded to the trial version.
