@Albelnox0 I was being ignorant. And I apologize for it. I should have done some research before rushing to a quick post.

But he doesn't just talk about games being "stale" and stagnant. He talks about them not being able to touch upon mature content in the same way some great movies have. And he's wrong; There are many great games that have mature themes and content through their entire series. Either he's not looking hard enough for mature games, or he's being to vague and non-specific about what he expects from a good game.

Again, I apologize for my rude comments on Heavy Rain and Mr. Cage.

From what I've heard and seen (haven't played Heavy rain because I don't own a PS3), Heavy Rain is more of an interactive movie than a videogame. It sounds like the player would have a better time watching it than playing it.

There are plenty of games that touch upon mature themes and content : Fallout with it's focus on survival; Bioshock with it's attempt to cling to order and power in a corrupt world away from ours; And Mass Effect and Dragon Age have some of the best character development I've seen in videogames. And these are games that are also great to play as well (VATS, Biotics, Abilities, Powers, Plasmids, etc.). I've only touched upon quite a few of the many seriously mature and great games we have in this industry.

Cage sounds like he wants something more along the lines of a movie (which is great for him). But I'll stick to my great stories and fantastic gameplay.

Also (just a quick tidbit), he's talking about "new hardware" arriving and changing the industry for the better (in his view). Wasn't this the same man who said in another Gamespot article that new consoles are not needed in the near future? Or was that someone else from the same studio/company?

"I remember a time when I bought a cartridge and excitedly read the manual on my way home, imagining what the game was going to be like. Maybe kids don't have that anymore."

Maybe it's because all EA games now a days come out with pitiful excuses for manuals?

Not saying I don't mind that (it's a good thing for the environment; which is something we all must take care of). But let's be real here. EA doesn't care for the environment; it's just another way for them to skim some extra cash off the top.

But I'm off on a tangent, so I'll stop...

@jinkaytm At the time this video was made, I believe there was no news confirming that it was Baird (I believe that news came out today or late last night). But I do agree that "guys in masks" comment shows a tad bit of ignorance.

Highly disagree with Brendan Sinclair on Gears of War having a 'shallow story with no substance'. The stories in the games are very linear, but the characters themselves do develop and offer interesting stories to tell for themselves. Sinclair mentioned that he read the first story arc of the comics (#1-6 I believe), but that gives him no right to offer a 'final' and 'concrete' opinion of the Gears story. Especially when the novels (I've only just finished the first one myself) offer an immersive, and emotional story that really exposes the characters and introduces their pasts while retaining the familiarity we have grown accustomed to. The story of Gears of War is far from shallow, and there is plenty of substance that can be used (whether you or I agree on it being used is a completely different argument) for creating new stories for future games in the series.

Another article about the ME3 ending. How exciting!

Seriously though, let's just wait until the "Extended Cut" comes out, and then let the s*** storm begin.

I feel like everyone who talks about the ME3 ending controversy only mentions (in a misquoting manner) it, without any respect for the plethora of valid opinions that argue on all sides. Before talking about it even further please do your homework and analyze what everyone is saying (the ending is a dream/indoctrination; the ending is real; the ending is incoherent no matter what; I enjoyed the ending; I didn't enjoy the ending; etc.). If you feel as if the task at hand is too difficult just kindly stop adding incoherent babble to the discussion.
