The Wii is a console for Non Gamers. The Blue Ocean which went very well for Nintendo 101 million sold worldwide. However motion controls didn't really catch on. Plus the Wii had a "Kill a Ton" of throw away shovelware games. Out of a library of over 2000 disc based games. Only 85 or so are must play games that are excellent. Some of the biggest sellers that are on the Wii console is stuff like Wii Fit and Wii fit Plus and the Just Dance series. Plus it was mainly a Netflix machine for people.

So the Wii is Nintendo's worst but best selling console. Not quite the Revolution in gaming since Playstation Move and Xbox kinect 1 and 2 along with the Wii U also failed and died out.

The Nintendo Switch is an alright console. Only a must buy if your really into Nintendo first party games. I only got the Switch after almost 2 years. The Switch is a great indy games machine. Some of the ports are very good.

A bit over priced and under powered. But Nintendo has made a fun console. So it is worth buying makes a great secondary console

Sony would not use cartridges for PS5. Hopefully those "cartridges" are not memory cards. Sony could "pull a Microsoft" and have a Playstation 5 SKU release without an HDD. Like when Microsoft had the HDD less Xbox 360 Core SKU along with the Xbox 360 Pro with the 20GB HD.

IF Sony plans to release both a PS5 Pro SKU for $500.00 and a HDD less PS5 SKU in order to hit the sweet price point of $400.00 for PS5.

Hopefully Sony will have just one PS5 SKU. and those Cartridge things are for PSVR 2.

Sony may "Pull a 2006" with the Playstation 5. $599.99 for the PS5 pro version. In addition to the $499.99 for the regular PS5. Apparently Sony is releasing the Base and Pro PS5 Sku's at the same time.

With all of the promised Tech in the PS5 including full B/C with PS1/PS2/PS3/PS4. Having Ray tracing, Solid state drives with almost zero loading times. The regular PS5 Sku could feature a tiny 500GB HDD While the PS5 Pro could feature a 2TB Solid State HDD. Built in tech for PSVR 2 and forward compatibility for 8K. etc The Playstation 5 will be expensive. I would like a $400.00 price point but in 2019. That is not likely.

Seems that 7 years between new consoles is the new normal. I remember when 5 years was a thing. However consoles are expensive to design create and market. Plus video game development is more expensive. If a game bombs it could doom a studio.

So 7 years between generations is what we have. for better or worse
