the problem with this study is they have kids play a horribly violent game, but also a game that takes more skill to play. As opposed to a kids game that doesnt take much skill. They should have had them play mario. I don't sleep well because the last level of mario 3d land stresses me out.

Everyone else releases completely new franchises all the time. Bioshock infinite(from system shock), all sports games, tomb raider, sim city, civilization, prince of persia, rayman, Xcom, the elder scrolls, resident evil, deus ex.
They are really making points against the whole industry, not just nintendo. The industry relies on sequels, and it is really questionable as to whether modern games in any franchise are better gameplay wise. Sure skyrim is more cinematic but is it better that morrowind? Is DE human revolution better that the original? Is RE6 better than code veronica?
Sure games are becoming more cinematic, making them seem more exciting, but really is the gamplay better or more intelligent.
This article is a pure example of what we get from the gaming media, and what we've been getting from the gaming media for the last 10 years. Today we get less game like Ni No Kuni, less games with whimsy. This is the type of gaming media garbage that gives us nothing but morbid violence and murder.
