Is it just an update to support intel gpu's?AlexKidd5000I assume so. Otherwise the GPU drivers are directly from either NVIDIA or AMD/ATI, therefore Windows wouldn't have anything to do with it

I don't use XFire. When I take screenshots or game videos I use the recorder built into Razer GameboosterIf you're running xfire try it when xfire in closed.

I heard Windows 8 is about to get a bunch of graphics updates that will make it superior to Windows 7 graphics (at least with Intel iGPUs)
Is this true?
And if it is, is Windows 8 worth it?
Depending on your processor, there's a possibility it could work. You should be able to adjust the amount of shared RAM that goes to your iGPU in your BIOS. Make it at least 1025. As long as your CPU is over 2.4 GHz, you should be able to RUN it on LOW. There's no guaruntee it'll be smooth. If you look at videos online, poeple who try to run BF3 with Intel HD 3000 usually get 20-30 FPS. And they use overclocked i5's and i7's.
I can RUN it with a Pentium 2.1 GHz and Intel HD 3000. It just looks like a slideshow.
SSDs are faster and have higher read speeds, but HDD has such a higher capcity for such a low price. You can find a TB HDD for about $60
[QUOTE="Maverick6575"]the cpu isn't soldered in however, no you cannot upgrade it to an ivy bridge based cpu with hd4000 it will fit fine, it just won't boot. I was afraid that was going to be a problem. Ah well. From what I understand there was only a 30 MB difference in the shared VRAM between the 3000 and 4000I want to upgrade my laptop from a Pentium 2.10 GHz dual core to something with a little more power. I don't want to max out the graphics, and stack on lighting mods, I just want something so I can game on the go.
So my question is regarding the Intel HD integratedd GPUs:
My laptop has Intel HD 3000 in it. With integrated GPUs, are they built into the motherboard, or the CPU?
So what I'm really asking is, can I get a processor that has Intel HD 4000, or do I have to stick to the Intel 3000 CPUs?
JigglyWiggly_
The integrated graphics is in the processor. However, 99% of the time the cpu is soldered to the motherboard. So, you're kind of stuck with what you have. Laptops aren't generally meant for upgrading. So if my CPU isn;t soldered into my motherboard, I could upgrade to Intel HD 4000? Should I do a tear down and see if it's soldered in?[QUOTE="Maverick6575"]
