awesome, so II don't have to buy it again? sweet. also, I reformatted my HDD once, because I had to troubleshoot for something, but when I logged back on to my PSN, all my trophies were gone =/. so does the trophies save on your psn account, the hdd, or the servers?

Hi, I still have a 40GB HDD PS3 and I am planning to upgrade to a larger one (160GB). But I bought a couple of things like the LBP MGS Level pack and I already shared it with 4 of my friends. I am going to back up all my info on an external and restore back to my new HDD when I get it. Will my LBP dlc still be there? As well as my trophies and game utility data? I don't want to redownload the big update from CoDWaW also. =/

Well, it depends either if you like playing during modern times or going back to WW2. I have both and enjoy them both and play them both equally. Most of my friends have COD4 and a couple of my friends recently bought a PS3 (joined the bandwagon) and they chose to purchase COD4 over CODWaW.

Well, I have a few demos and I want to save my friend the trouble and time of downloading the demos himself. Well, I heard you can't save it on USB, is that true? But what about the Backup Utility option? If I backup my PS3 on an external HDD and then reinstall it, I guess, would that work? Thanks in advance!

lol very funny guys, but are there anymore OTHER serious answers? Like if some part stopped functioning properly, could I shop for an replacement online and do it myself? instead of sending it to sony and blowing away $150 for repairs or buying a new ps3 =(

Well, I've had my PS3 a little less than a year now and just recently, it doesn't read any discs anymore. I was playing a game (World at War) and all of a sudden, it freezes on a loading screen. I turned it off and turned it back on and it took forever to load the game until I realized it wasn't going to load. I am in the process of getting it replaced and I was wondering what are ways a PS3 can fail on you? I want to have little bit knowledge the second time around on its known hardware malfunctions so I can watch out for those things (like playing too much). What parts in the PS3 can overheat? and can they be replaced? What ways in general does a PS3 malfunctions? Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about buying a new ps3, the old 80gb or 60gb version because I want to have the backwards compatibiliity and also the superaudio cd player. Right now I currently own a 40gb version ps3. I was just wondering if I will be able to back up things that I've bought in the playstation store on an external harddrive then would I be able to load it onto the new ps3? I know that I could do that with my save files, but I don't want to be losing any money when I find out I can't restore my street fighter turbo hd on the new ps3 =/ I already spent around $30-40 buying addons and games.

thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I'm currently owning a 40gb ps3 and I want more space because 40gb is too small because I want to add a few movies and music. I did some research and I know that the ps3 is compatible with a 2.5 inches S-ATA HDD either 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm. I just have a couple more questions that I can't really find my answer to.

- Is the PS3 ONLY compatible with the SATA internal HDDs?  Can it use any other brands HDD as long as it's 2.5 inches?

- How many rpm is the HDD in the current PS3s now?

- What is recommended for the PS3? 5400rpm or 7200rpm? 7200rpm seems that it runs faster but it seems that it might cause heat and overheat.

Thanks in advance!
