because on order to open a PS3 you have to break a warranty sticker and one that's done that's it you void the warranty and sony will give you nothing

on a separate note iv'e had my PS3 for about 5 years and had no problems what so ever so here's hoping

i have an old stlye ps3 and it has no problems running 3.61 i think it's more to do with the ps3 it's self and not the firmware

40gb old style PS3 had it since xmas 2007 still going strong put a 320gb hdd in it so no storage problems :)

well i don't anymore and i haven't for ages so long in fact i can't remember my log-in details for it still play metal gear solid 4 though ace game but mgo was a huge disapiontment for me

1)yes your trophy's will all come over as they are stored on the psn servers and not the console

2)reformatting the hdd is the easiest way to do that

3)you may have some troubles with some game saves depending on the game you'll have to look into that one yourself

other things to know dont forget all your games will have to be reinstalled and all dlc will have to be redownloaded plus if you have any movies you got from the playstation store beware as you wont be able to play them on the new ps3

in all honesty it will be better for you to buy the slim ps3 first and do a data transfer then everything is sent over including drm and copy protected files then sell the old one hope this helps :roll:

nah they should just have download bundles 3 games at a set price

installing a game from a disc reduces load times a lot but you still need the disc in the drive so the 360 knows it's an official game otherwise what would stop people borrowing games off friends and installing them or renting and installing them hope that clears things up 8)

it's ok apparently it was from a transaction the day before the playstation network went down so it didn't transfer till after psn came back up but thanks for the help :)

no i dont think they should i think online trophies should be extra and not need for a platinum but still needed for 100% completion
