Yet another reason why no body goes to GameSpot anymore. This website is a joke. They never cease to amaze me with their bias and ignorant reviews. A 6.5? Really? I'm starting to feel like GameSpot purposely waits until other websites review games so they can score them lower than everyone else, as if it's cool or something. They also seem to have something against Nintendo games. How does the Wii U version get a 6.5 while the other version got an 8.5? It's only the same game, but better! I'm sick of these bias Microsoft fan boys, and this is why I will never trust a GameSpot review again. Go to IGN for your game reviews, people. You won't see them giving such a fantastic game like this a bad review.
@Blitzkrieg129 @MCC1029 @mirage_so3 @Chico86_basic You're absolutely right. I understand what you're saying, but again, acting as if Nintendo did nothing to innovate Zelda is crazy. It's the fact that they tried to something new that resonates with me, where as most game companies simply add new weapons and characters to the same game and call it a sequel. Nintendo may have not been that successful with innovating Skyward Sword, but at least they tried to do something somewhat new.
@mirage_so3 @MCC1029 @Chico86_basic But if you're going to change everything, why would they make it a Zelda game? Part of what makes a Zelda game a Zelda game, is what it does and how it plays. If they changed all of that, they mine as well make a different franchise. This is how sequels are supposed to be made; you follow a format you had before, and make innovative changes that make it almost the same thing, but a lot better.
@mirage_so3 @Chico86_basic @MCC1029 Giving the game a 7.5 doesn't make him a biased idiot, but acting like the game did nothing new is silly. Even if you believe the Wii Motion Plus was a gimmick, it's the simple fact that you're actually acknowledging the fact that it was there and tried to do something new and innovative. Innovation isn't always a success, but trying to step outside the box and do something new is better than doing the same thing over and over again.
@JustPlainLucas @MCC1029 I understand what you're saying, and you make a good point. There's nothing wrong with having your own opinion, even if that opinion is against the popular consensus. However, what I have a problem with is acting like Nintendo does nothing new with their sequels. Skyward Sword was highly innovative and did things differently from past Zelda titles, yet was treated as a typical Zelda game by Tom. One thing he said above was "What can be done with Mario Kart that we haven't seen before? Why should we trust Aonuma's claim that he's going to reinvent Zelda when he has failed to do so in every attempt thus far? Does a new Smash Bros. have much appeal beyond the requisite roster update?" This statement is incredibly ridiculous. Mario Kart does something different with almost every title! Aonuma has failed to reinvent Zelda with every attempt? LOL okay. And people only play Super Smash Bros. for the new characters? As a competitive Smash player, I'm actually offended by this. And then you get all kinds of Halo and Call of Duty sequels that bring nothing new to the table, yet are praised by websites like GameSpot. It just seems as if they're always hating on Nintendo for SOMETHING. They can just never win with GameSpot. Maybe when they start making a bunch of shooter games about soldiers like all the other shooter games we have is when they'll get respect from GameSpot.
Here's more of the same bias crap GameSpot has against Nintendo. They suggest that Nintendo doesn't do anything new with their franchises, yet Nintendo is always praised for some sort of new innovation that they've brought to their sequels. While Nintendo innovates, the other companies copy. Not only that, but they say Nintendo needs to break new ground, yet their content with a fourth version of Halo where it does almost nothing we haven't seen before. Call of Duty isn't getting old to anyone yet, right? It baffles me how other companies can regurgitate the same games over and over again and get praised for it, yet Nintendo is the only company to innovate with all of their sequels and we get crap like this. For crying out loud, this guy gave Skyward Sword a 7.5, where most people thought it was amazing. This is why I almost never come to GameSpot anymore. These Microsoft fan boys never give Nintendo the respect it deserves.
