Why can't Sony just follow Nintendo's lead and drop the proprietary memory cards? Oh wait they can't, so leave it up to some hacker to create an adapter that will enable the use of standard memory cards. Of course the sheep will eat this up as as some kind of change. Ever since the PS3 Sony has been doing everything to nickel and the dime the consumer and control/monitor the user to prevent them from modding their hardware or to prevent piracy.

Namco doesn't even want to port Tales of Hearts R and Tales of Innocence R to the states, even though there are plenty of publishers who like to port the Tales series to America (Xseed and Atlus). The problem is the copyright laws. Since Namco owns the license to the Tales series, they can deny any publishers who want to translate and port the Tales series to America, therefore the process of any Tales games coming to the states takes a while.

It's the same thing with SquareEnix refusing to port FF Type-0 to the states. So now the fans have to make a translation for FF Type-0 which they are currently doing.

@DaneGamer Kickstarter is good because it avoids some of the problems in copyright law. The money goes straight to the developers instead of some of the money going to the publishers. I think copyright law needs to be either abolished or severely reduced. It's not that I support piracy, I believe without copyright law more people would be buying games instead of pirating.

@OmegaGear I don't know how smartphones relate to the PS4 totally different devices. If Sony was smart they wouldn't be talking about this until after the PS4 is released. Sony is not the consumer friendly corporation you think they are. Look at how they handheld the Vita, and gauge the consumers with the overpriced memory cards. Look at the PS3 when it launched, it was a disaster. Look it how Sony how treats their customers, banning users who have modded PS3, automatic kernel updates that DRM on your PS and Vita. Come on man, Sony can you **** the consumer over anytime of the day, and they've proven that. Back then with the PS1, PS2, and PSP, they were okay. Now they want to nickle and dime and monitor the users anyway they can. Maybe Sony might prove me wrong with the PS4.

@LockDeltz Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony are all the same, there is some differences between them, but at the core, they are a bunch of corporate bastards. Yes Sony is hyping up the PS4 and something "cheap" and convenient. But it's not out yet, we don't know what lies in store for us. And don't tell me you think this is a cool feature.

What a useless feature, just proof that Sony has no idea what consumer wants when it comes to gaming. Sony is so out of touch with the gamers just as much as Nintendo and Microsoft is. Sorry Sony I'm not like the sheep here who will fall for your cheap gimmick features. Report something that is actually convenient and that will save money.

@CincoToes No they are not saving up for next gen. The economy is terrible, taxes are going up especially for video games, many people are out of work, combined with low job opportunities as well as the increase in the cost of gaming, people are just not buying games like they used too.

@Christian Wells And anyone can see that gamestop is clearly ripping you off. Come on don't be a sheep and defend GameStop's terrible business practices. Gamestop of course is the dirtbag when it comes to brick and motor stores, I never deal with Gamestop or buy from there.

@Lhomity

Video game companies with their anti-consumer policies has nothing to do with piracy, but it's just that copyright law incentives them to control their content in a way that goes against the consumer. Even if there was no piracy, these video game corporations would still be doing this shit. The most pirated consoles (PS2, PSP, PSX, DS, Wii) were also the most successful ones. The least pirated consoles like the PS3, Sony is still losing money off of it. Most of the laws like the dmca, the length of copyright protection, the fines, and the penalties are all draconian and unjust. There is too much copyright even before SOPA, if you weren't a sheep you would realize that.

And so what if someone got a game for "free", it has nothing to do with you. Simply put piracy is just another word for copyright infringement (not theft), if there was no copyright there would be no such thing as piracy.
