I don't think this is similar to I am Legend.

The only thing that makes some people believe that movie and this game are similar would be its environment which is an abandoned city.

I am Legend is mostly just a one-man-show whereas The Last of Us is focused on showing players how humanity degrades so fast under the circumstances.

Also, I believe I am Legend is made based on the novel.

You know that ps4 will be released in either late 2013 or early 2014?

Not sure if ps3 games will be compatible to ps4, but buying ps3 now will be a bit waste.
