Finally got through all the films in order. Made me completely change my mind about some things.

Quantum of Solace is actually pretty good, just one of the darkest Bond films, but as I found with Licence to Kill, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

The Pierce Brosnan fillms aren't great, with the exception of GoldenEye, which is amazing.

Yup, Casino Royale is best. GoldenEye is second best. So Martin Campbell is the best Bond director.

Thunderball is the most overrated Bond film.

Diamonds Are Forever is the most underrated Bond film.

They're all pretty good, except for Never Say Never Again.

I'm not as concerned about the militarization of police as I am about the "war on drugs" and similar endeavors; in other words, I'm more concerned about how police resources are being used, not what resources they have to begin with.

Explain to me again how the US is in the forefront of Democracy?

And while you're at it, The Democratic value of the two party system?

I think the word you're looking for is oligarchy. ;)

Yeah, sadly this country -- once the forerunner for democracy -- is now only a democracy in appearance, not in reality.

Keep the Silmarrilion in your bathroom for toilet time reading. ;)

In the rest of your free time, read Hobbit then LOTR.

Doneskies.

Thank goodness the mission was unmanned and this is what happens when you cut NASA's budget. There goes that stock price.

Has nothing to do with NASA's budget. These rocket launches have been moving to the private sector (for the better) for years now. This is one bad launch of many MANY successful launches for various companies.

I mostly agree, but NASA still could use a budget boost.

@eyematter: You don't know what you're talking about. I'm not being rude, you are just very misinformed and vaguely so.

My biggest complaint with Obama is that I wanted a Democrat and instead I got him: a toothless centrist without purpose or determination or the willingness to put the middle finger to Republican obstructionists and go ahead and try to propose bills anyway.

Right, so everything listed here should probably be cut from the federal budget. 100% behind that. Makes me very angry.

However, completely as a side note, and not strictly related to this but only tangential, I think it's important that we recognize that oftentimes, when some people rail on about slashing government spending, more often than not they are speaking about cutting government spending that does significant societal good; namely, programs without which measurable negative societal effects would be felt. So when we talk about cutting government spending -- which very much needs to be done in cases such as this one -- we need to take such arguments with a grain of salt, recognizing that while hot topics like ending welfare and programs for the poor are magnetic rallying points for conservative elements, actually implementing such cuts into the federal budget would be disastrous for the overall economy. Trickle down economics sounds great on paper; it does not work in any way, shape or form in reality.

So, like I said, let's separate the chaff from the wheat, but let's be careful doing so.
