@nickpeck36 The 2DS is to provide a cheaper alternative for parents this Christmas, because pretty much every single kid is going to want pokemon, the 2ds has absolutely nothing to do with the WiiU
He is right, about everything besides 1 thing. Consumers will buy the PS4 and Xone because of prettier pictures, this generation really only cares about the Shooters and Graphics (not that I have anything against either), but that's what the majority wants, they could care less about different experiences, all they want is something that goes "boom bang pow" and looks good. I hope Nintendo comes out on top, like they did in the handheld department, where the not so graphical 3ds beat out the vita by landslide, but that is highly unlikely to happen in the console department. But whether Nintendo beats PS4 or Xbox One out or not, Nintendo will start turning a profit out of the WiiU.
@Antic_Dreamer first off bud, it's praises not "prayses" second, I was not talking about the games in that part, I was talking about the consoles. It's not stealing an idea if they never used it, and they were maybe, maybe going to use It on a handheld, which could be argued that Sony was taking the idea from the ds. And as I stated, I don't own a WiiU, if I was a fanboy, don't you think that I would own 1 already?
It is current gen, generations shouldn't be judged upon graphics, and even If it is, the WiiU is still a big improvement from the wii, which makes it next gen Nintendo.
The Wii U IS innovative. Let's just get this out of the way, I do not own a wii u. With that being said I am still able to see how the WiiU is truly unique. Now that XBoxone changed a lot of its policies, can you really tell a difference between the PS4 and The Xbox One? And what's so different about those 2 from their previous installments? Graphics, and Live streaming(which is a good Idea). Why is everything about graphics? What's a game without game play? you could play legend of Zelda ocarina of time on the N64, and it's gonna be a lot more fun then most of the games out there today, and guess what, compared to todays graphics, they suck, but yet it is still amazing. Nintendo is truly innovative, who would think to add 3D to a handheld, or motion censers and a tablet to a console? Nintendo. Where as all the Xbox and PS do is improve graphics and social networking, that's not innovation.
As for Reggie's comment on the PS4 and Xbox One's lineup, hey, I'm sorry, I wanted to move over to a PS4 myself, but the games revealed at the moment just aren't that appealing, likewise for the Xbox one, as a matter of fact, the only game that caught my eye was the order 1887(if that's correct) and heck, all there is is a trailer lol, the gameplay could be bad. Where as the WiiU's lineup truly looks fun, whine all you want about it being mostly the same cast of characters, but truth is, a sports game is a sports game, it really doesn't matter what the cast of character are, and that goes for everything. And now with that being said, I'm ready to see the flood of trolls and Nintendo haters come forth to tell me how stupid I am.
I think that the explanation is simple, some people will not use 3D (although I firmly believe and know that it makes most games better), and so they won't even buy it because it's a mere "gimmick" which it's not, it's innovation at it's best. But that being said, there are those who can't play in 3D, and so that hurts the 3ds market. Also the 3ds is pretty expansive, and I have a family member in mind that can't afford a 3ds, but doesn't care about the 3d, he just wants to play the games, and he can't be the only 1 out there. They've made this "change" although I call it more of a "move", I don't think that Nintendo would be stupid and ditch a system design(including 3D) that is now dominating the marketplace, due to it's uniqueness and great games, they are simply pulling in those other fans who are still holding onto their DSIs, because they aren't making ds games anymore, and that's quite a big group of people to lose. They changed the shape only to make it more kid friendly, and to save money, think about it, the 3D screen isn't the only thing they cut out. I feel that I'm right, because, and I have very good reasons, it gets released the same day as pokemon does, pokemon is perhaps the largest selling handheld game ever, it appeals to old and young players, what better way to drag them in but with a cheaper device?
