Which one is better? They seem similar enough but there's a $200 price difference. Is that just the Gateway name you're paying for? I've had good luck with Gateways, but I am unfamiliar w/ ASUS, how are they? Which one would you buy for the money? Also, do either of them have backlit keyboards (just something I've always wanted!)?

Any info you could give me would be much appreciated.

Prices:

Asus: $899.99

Gateway: $1149.99

Comparo:

Update: So lets consider this, do I need this much of a laptop? The only PC games I'm really interested in re strategy, RTS, and maybe some simulators. Do they need the graphical prowess that games like Crysis and FC need? Would I be ok saving my $200 on the ASUS to play these games?

I have the wireless controller and a play and charge kit. Can I use it via the play and charge kit for PC games?

Maybe so, but I passed up on CoD: WaW just because it was WWII. I think if someone tried something different, and did it well, they could do really good.

I'm getting tired of all the futuristic and WWII shooters!

You'd think the success or CoD4 and the few other modern shooters, that more people would want in. I would love to see more games from:

Modern Warfare eras

This one really baffles me, why aren't their more of them?? Some ultra-realistic one would be sweet!

Vietnam / Korea

Man, I would love to have a shooter in an awesomely done Jungle and go crawling through small tunnels and stuff. Plus, I can only think of two games that have taken place in this time: Battlefield: Vietnam, and Shellshock: Vietnam

Ancient Times (Rome, Greece, (300, the movie-esque))

Who wouldn't love an awesomely huge scale ancient warfare game?Horses and swords and castles, oh my!

Wild West

Okay, so call me crazy, but gun was one of my favorite games. I love western games and six shooters. I would love to see a well made GTA style western game. Like Gun, just made better! And the character should be an actual BA cowboy, not an indian.

Pirates

I'd love to see more Pirate games. Something that finds that perfect balance between 3rd person combat on ships and shore and awesome naval combat!

Well, that's my $0.02, I'm just sick of WWII and futuristic shooters.

So, I'm guessing that with the ability to install games on the 360 with the update that you still need to have the CD in there to verify that you still have that game, am I correct? I can't imagine m$ would be that dumb, but I'd love it if they were! I'd be investing in about 5 hard drives!

yes, i had those symptoms prior to a total RROD failure. Mine was also one of the early early batches. So hate to say it, but prepare for the worst. Most likely, it will start happening more frequently, until it just goes straight to RROD during the initial bootup 360 logo. So best of luck to you. Take advantage of the repair program, mine was about 2 weeks from the day it left my house to the day it got back. But if you have a game you've been dying to play, like I did, (Rock Band came out the week after my RROD) just towel trick it until that stops working too (which took like 2 months for me). Hope this helps.

My live was failing intermittently last night until about 11PM CT then it was gone. Still nothing this afternoon. (It didn't have a problem taking my M$ points when I bought an arcade game last night though, I just couldn't finish downloading it!!!)

yeah every once and a while I just don't feel like wainting to get into an online game, only to find they're all cheating or team shooting or something and you just need to take it out on some easy bots.

I miss the old days of sittin with a friend and blowing stuff up on red faction. we could get tons of easy bots and just have a blast beating on them. I wish more games these days had those options for their multiplayer modes still in addition to online.
