You only get one shot. After this playthrough I'm on I'm going to start another character and see what happens when you kill him. You better get something awesome because killing that thing is a pain in the ass
@c_rakestraw: I had a fire resistance ring that helped a little, but not a lot of items to use during the fight. I summoned someone, but they died almost immediately.
I ended up beating the boss on my own with a lot of hit and run tactics. It wasn't too bad. The boss after him was definitely the easiest of the "Big 4" that you're told to kill near the beginning. These games have a habit of making the biggest, most intimidating creatures the biggest pushovers.
This game has a habit of reminding you not to get too comfortable with your set up. My heavy armor, Pursuer greatsword + greatshield combo has worked flawlessly until now. Unfortunately, the boss I'm up against now damages you while you're close to it, regardless of what you do. It's forced me to change tactics and be more careful.
I specifically remember people frequently making comments about unlocking the RAM later on once the OS was more streamlined. Though it may have been 6 at the time, not 5.
@dvader654: Agree about that particular section. The further I get into the game the more impressed I get with the environments and enemy variety. Of course I just stumbled across an environment similar to areas from both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls I wasn't happy to find. The torch made things easier and lighting the path was fun, though it would have been irritating if the whole game was like that.
I do enjoy how my Level 60 character has a ton of great equipment and I'm about the same as a starting Knight from the original game.
@Randolph: I'd like to say Sony needs a great E3 this year with all the bad news coming from them: the loss of Amy Hennig and Jack Tretton, cancelling a Sony Santa Monica game three years in development, and yet another delay of Drive Club.
But that's unfair to say, considering the PS4 continues to sell record breaking numbers. Which is weird, since they've hardly announced any games. Granted, we know they're coming, but still.
