I still have hope for this game, but it reminds me yet again how bummed I am for the parting of ways between the developers of Blizzard North. I feel confident that if Brevik had the input of those members of Runic games that were previously in Blizzard North, this game would be utterly fantastic. There was a magic to that team that I fear we won't see the likes of again.

@5SI-GonePostal I ran into problems again with the Radeons when I upgraded a friend's computer a year ago to a 6770. This was more an issue of the PCIe x16 compatibility, but the whole 2.1 specification was enough to continue to irk me and sway me away from the brand.

@5SI-GonePostal I'm not so sure about the 640 to 550 comparison. Judging by benchmarking websites I've visited the 550 is almost twice as fast.

@5SI-GonePostal yep, that is about what I would build as well, except I've always had problems with Radeon drivers so I tend to avoid them. I think they went with the 500gb drive because of the lack of an optical drive.

AMD cpu's are the way to go for budget builds. With Nvidia, I would never buy a card on the low side of the series. For example the 550 is as low as I'd go, never a 540, or a 640.

Personally I would swap out that POS Zotac card for an Evga GTX 550ti. I know its still entry level gaming, but those cards go on sale fairly frequently for about the same price posted for the Zotac card. I'd swap the Intel CPU out for a Phenom II X4...I just priced a 2.8 ghz one at less cost than the intel they have listed. This should almost double the power of the pc and cost the same or less.

@AcidSoldner I believe this build is assuming you will be using your TV for the display.

@pandamonium000 @anfunny I can't find the article at them moment, but I was reading in a wired magazine that Sony was developing a TV that used the high screen refresh rate to actually display two images at once. Like a 3d tv it would come with glasses. Each set of glasses would sync to the refresh rate but at alternating frames. So If I had a TV at 240hz I could have either 2 different screens at 120hz or 4 at 60hz. The point was to eliminate split screen gaming.

Onlive really could be something if a larger well trusted company owned them. There is potential for the future of cloud gaming, but I think it is still a bit early for widespread adoption of the idea. Streaming services, in general, really need to get their business models worked out.

Perhaps this is a bad idea, but I think it would be an incredibly smart move for Google to buy Onlive. Especially since On-live is going to be on the Ouya which is an android based system. This would really bring tablet gaming up to speed as well, and bypass the hardware limitations. Google already has more than enough server hardware to host such a service.
