Apparently Kevin renamed himself to Brittany.
No mention of the insanely long loading screens? This game is the premier loading screen simulator, honestly..
Also, that Taskmaster video is awesome. Saw it ingame. <3 Steven Blum.
I still have hope for this game, but it reminds me yet again how bummed I am for the parting of ways between the developers of Blizzard North. I feel confident that if Brevik had the input of those members of Runic games that were previously in Blizzard North, this game would be utterly fantastic. There was a magic to that team that I fear we won't see the likes of again.
"varied content" is not a SOLUTION TO A HOLISTIC PROBLEM. Does tetris need "more content?" Howbout chess? Go? Tennis?
Design an interesting, original, emergently deep system, and you won't need to resort to the game industry's standard tactic, "distract the player from how boring your system is with a mountain of assets."
You could tell this was going to be lame just from the gameplay previews. Mouse button mash... if you think this is fun, this is the game for you.
As someone who played in the beta I would like to highlight of the thing missed in the review that make the game fun and loot useful. To start with you get world bosses regularly. For example you will be walking around an area killing henchmen off to get to your next mission when Venom strikes the area, so everyone in that area has to team up to fight him off. Trying to attack him with only a couple people will end in failure due to him being that much stronger than you. On top of that much like Diablo and similar games there are tons of little hidden gems that make areas worth looking around in. One example is going down a ladder and seeing a guy being beaten up by some thugs, only to have you realize he himself is a thug.
All of this killing will drop wonderful little nuggets of loot. Issue is, like mentioned in the review, not all of it can be used by you. So you can sell it for some money like an other MMO or you can give it to the vendor to level that type of vendor up. Leveling vendors up gives you new options and more stuff to buy from them. Those are some of the things that review doesn't mention that add to the game. Also the devs are consistently working on making the game better and adding things, just check by the forums once and awhile.
dammit! I just started playing this game... and now i see this rating... I was hoping it would be good... WHY CAN"T A SINGLE GAME COMPANY MAKE A GAME BETTER OR ATLEAST EQUAL TO WOW IN THE FUN ASPECT!!!
@anDs he was comparing it to diablo in terms of its gameplay style; that doesn't mean the games are of equal quality. this guy is a decent reviewer, and your "welcome to gamespot" comment is both unwarranted and unnecessary.
I guess you should have just kept playing and having fun...
@avengerb When you put it like that it sounds like you've been playing the game with no opinion of it until this review gave you one.
@TheKungFool @anDs Not to mention if I make a game called Dungeons and Monsters and it gets a score of 9.5 and another person makes a game called Super Hero Bashfest and it's game play is a near duplicate of the previously mentioned game then in some ways it should be docked for a lack of originality. To get a good score developers should be inventing new forms of game play not just rehashing all the old tried and true methods. I watched this review and said "hey its Diablo 3 with super hero skins".
Problem is i was hopign was good stuff later on..cuz as of now i have yet to see something good in the game ... but i was Hoping others knew that it was fun later on... this is an MMO game.. and there must have been more players who have played this game more than me already... thats why I am angry that those who have played it and found it to suck rated this ...
Basically I wanted to put a lot of effort into the game..but now seeing this review has somewhat corrupted that belief that this was a good game indeed...
Up until now I was just hoping it would get better... havent seen anything to say it is..
Also, I cant invest 3 or 4 months on a game only to find out that the good stuff is not there... I have to believe the reviews for an MMO.. if it was a Single player game ..i'd rahter just play it and see for myself.. not with an MMO..
Well not that I have spent any money on it ...it mostly F2P .. but I guess you are probably right.. i shouldn't base my view on this review... I have been playing this game for a week now. Guess I will try and see how things unfold ..
The other game which was given a 6.5 was League of Legends.. which by far has improved over the years to being the most played game I have ever invested my time in (only a couple of notches behind world of warcraft) ... so yeah i'll just continue i guess.. sry for the nerd rage :P
@avengerb Here's an idea, play the game! If you saw the game, liked how it looked and bought it on top of everything, then at least give it a try! There have been times where gamespot has given a game a bad review and people have bought the game anyways and vice versa. Point and case, Monster Hunter and Perfect Dark Zero.
You know most MMOs on gamespot do not get good reviews anyways because they kind of still suck at reviewing the MMO genre so why do you have to base your opinion on a game solely on gamespot? I will not advertise any other means of reviewing anywhere but I'll tell you one thing: try to like the game if you spent money on it already before you burn it!
