These videos always remind me of Vsauce from YouTube, but themed around gaming instead of proper science.

Hmmm. A cell shaded, visually over-saturated JRPG with a poorly pre-rendered trailer cut to look like actual gameplay. What could go wrong??

We need 60 FPS on PS4 and Xbox One about as much as GameSpot needs 60 FPS on their videos asking if we need 60 FPS for the next generation of games...

But seriously: People who say the eye can't detect anything past 30 FPS are simply wrong. It's obviously smoother and more ascetically pleasing to look at.

Do we NEED 60 FPS? No. That is the answer. We do not need it. If we NEEDED it, games wouldn't function without it. They do. So, it's not necessary. Moving on...

Do we WANT 60 FPS? Well, that's a matter of opinion, but I'm inclined to say yes. I think it's worth the investment. (Under certain circumstances!)

Here's the problem: Games tend to be built around the 30 FPS model, so, that's what our eyes expect, and, it works pretty well for the most part! Games built for 60 FPS (like COD) look amazing, but tend to lose immersion when they dip below that frame rate. (It's simply annoying to dip from 60 FPS down to 30 or lower when moving throughout a game's world.)

Going forward, if devs can manage to build 60 FPS games and KEEP them at 60 FPS at all times, I'm sold on the idea. If not, I'd say, "Don't force it. 30 FPS is just fine."

But if we have to come to a compromise, I'll agree to meet in the middle and we can all enjoy games at 45 FPS.

The clouds are odd. And they move too fast. Fix it, please Bungie.

Sales will decline if we play the demo and it turns out to be a piece of shit. (Which is usually the case.)

Pro Tip: MAKE BETTER GAMES!
