Cows (hate using that term) are going to have to accept that 8.5 is the new 9.0 for them....of course it won't be accepted by the lemmings and other groups, but the PS3 has too many exclusives coming out this year. And these are big budget games. It wouldn't be fair to constantly give out AAA reviews. Especially this year. There are not too many ODST's type scenarios to balance out the 360 exclusives scores this year.

"Fair" should never factor into it. Every game should be reviewed irrespective of anything else around it, on it's own merits. I'm not saying this game is clearly 9+ and is being unfairly docked, because I haven't played it... but if reviewers did seriously consider "how many AAAs can we give PS3 this year" then the whole system is a complete farce. Knowing what I know about advertising dollars affecting review scores, I already have a really pessimistic view of the whole reviewing process, but if "too many AAAs for one platform" was ever validated as a legitimate concern I would stop checking review scores entirely.
