Yeah, I'm glad Dice is pleasing the PC crowd. Now we don't have to hear "BF3 has been consolized" although I'm sure that will still be stated by some

Nick3306

Some say 64 players makes the game consolized...

Those people are idiots.

Pretty much.

The concept of like, 1000 people all warring it out sounds good on paper but in actual video game terms it would be a complete and utter ****fest. 64 players will be MORE than enough for any shooter.

Nope. Its called being used to PC games. Blurry, muddy, low res, pixelated, fuzzy and jaggy washed out mess is what the game is.

RDR in 1920x1080p with 8 X AA and 16 X AF on PC however... Would blow my mind ;)

Mozelleple112

It's called relativity. Ferrarri's are faster than GTR's. Does this make GTR's "slow"? It does not. I love this elitist snobbery about PC games. I PC game as well, it's not like you're part of some super secret covenant. Simply put, RDR doesn't have "terrible" graphics in any way shape or form.

a GTR will out peformn ANY Ferrarri on ANY race track that does not consist solely of straight lines.... Terrible comparison. And RDR looks damn well UGLY to me.

If it looks UGLY to you, what does say, Arkania, look like? Alpha Protocol?

You need to get familiar with the concept of HYPERBOLE. I'm stealing this from Louis CK, but if you start off at "AMAZING", where do you go from there? If your Starbucks latte is "amazing", what is the birth of your child? Super-hyper-amazing?

No matter how you slice it, RDR is not "ugly", unless you have a completely distorted sense of scale.

On the topic of cars, who gives a ****? The comparison I was making was pretty clear.
and consoles are where the sales are at. They don't want to kill their install base. psn8214

I know you were kidding, but I do believe the PC is DICE's primary install base. Hence why this game is PC focused.

Well, I was totally kidding, especially about console gamers brains exploding if they tried to process more than 12 enemies in a single match. :P But to your point, I don't know if that's the case anymore. I bet anything BC2 sold more on either of the consoles than it did on PC, and you could chalk some of it up to it "not being a pure PC game" and turning some PC gamers off, but in general there is just a bigger install base on consoles than PC. Dragon Age Origins is another example. BioWare is traditionally known as a PC RPG developer, DAO on PC is CLEARLY the best version in every aspect, yet 360 sales alone trounce PC sales and possibly even trounce pirated copies + sales. It's just how gaming is right now. I'd love to see PC's start to win back some marketshare, but really building gaming rigs is just above the average Joe's head, console gaming is simple. Plug and play, pop it in and go. I think this game will be PC-focused because DICE genuinely wants to make the best possible game they can without any compromising and PC is the best way to do this, not because they have any expectations of it selling more. In fact I bet as PC-focused as this one is (and boy is it ever), I can almost guarantee it will sell better on consoles by a 2:1 margin, easily.

Exclusives are a good thing, otherwise what would be the point of owning different consoles?

Laxer04

a good thing for who? the console manufacturers or the consumer?

Both. It's a benefit for the consumer because it's a huge incentive for owning the platform.

Soooooo many. In fact I can only think of one shooter that's definitely coming out this year that I really want, and it's Killzone 3. Bulletstorm is on my radar as well. Crysis 2 on consoles is sounding pretty suckish at the moment, and I will need a new rig to run Crysis 2 on PC. I am going to build a new rig this year for sure, but I bet I'll just end up using it to Ultra everything in WoW and keep playing that instead of the shiny pretty stuff. :P

I think the obvious reason that BF3 will have a lower player count is because console gamers are mouthbreathing idiots who can't process more than 12 enemies in a match, and their brains would explode if they played a game with 40-256 players in it. Exploded brains = lower sales, and consoles are where the sales are at. They don't want to kill their install base.
LMAO kidding, obviously.
No, I understand why Sony and Microsoft would make a point out of having exclusive titles for their systems, but what the gamers get out of this I don't get.outatime557
They get to play these games... which is the whole point of gaming.
C'mon man, Red Dead and inFamous both created gorgeous worlds that TRUMP AC with just some minor slowdown and pop in, that's it. Screen tearing shows the product isn't finished and the Devs know their customers are so retarded they won't notice or care. The only acceptable technical flaw in an open world game is pop in due to draw distance and slow down due to sheer scale. Screen tearing is an indicator that the engine that was built to power the game is not technically proficient, which says a lot about the Devs and their skill at their craft.

AmayaPapaya

Whaaa? Infamous is an ugly game, and the Pop in King.

Anything running on Unreal is the pop-in king. inFamous had kind of crappy aliasing and the models and animations themselves were nothing too stellar, but pop-in definitely didn't stand out to me.
