[QUOTE="muffincakes87"]Perhaps it has got something to do with you not understanding what they're rapping about? Just because someone talk about some real stuff, absolutely positively does NOT means it sounds good. Martin Luther King's speech was of pure intelligence. But it bores the Hell out of me.This thread started out okay, but then the argument of foreign rap is better than American.
I honestly have to admit most of the foreign rap I hear sucks.

[QUOTE="lazerface216"][QUOTE="Osaka-06"] The point is that most American rap is utter garbage. The fact that some decent rappers are trying to survive in a sea of trash doesn't somehow make the trash any better.Osaka-06
you are wrong, there are plenty of great american MCs. list me some of these "great and progressive" rappers you got over there in sweden and scandinavia and i'll list you twice as many american MCs that **** all over those guys.
Do you even know any Swedish rappers? If no then how can you make such a claim? Anyways...Timbuktu, Snook, Promoe, Looptroop are all better than anything they got in the US.I think it's extremely close-minded to say that so and so artist is better than every single rapper within a country. Im sure Europe has great rappers, but so does America. You are really just being biased by dismissing any American artists. I deem this Arguement One sided for both parties.
Can't argue with thatThey way they 'sing' doesn't bother me. Heck, I listen to spoken word poetry all the time. Rather, it's the 'music' that gets on my nerves. So repetitious.

If you don't like rap or hip hop, and you don't care about my post, why did you enter the thread?[QUOTE="GreyskullPower"][QUOTE="TheMightyHoov"]

To see what you had to say. Why am I not allowed in here? :|
Who said you are not allowed? I am simply questioning your motives.Saying rap is all auto-tune is like saying metal is all screaming. Stupid lazy generalizations. Darth-CaedusExactly right.

I don't get why alot of users on OT like to use the Auto-tune card when explaining why they dislike rap/ hiphop.
While it is true that alot of artists use auto-tune, only a small fraction of them ever catch a record deal and get popular. I think most rap/hip hop fans don't even like auto-tune anymore.
The majority of rappers who do get popular, however, actually do have lyrical ability, and do not use auto-tune. Even better, some of them may sing in their song WITHOUT auto-tune. I can name tons of rappers who have lyrical ability, that are not tupac, biggie, eazy e or ice cube.
Wiz Khalifa (He talks about weed too much, but I still like him)
Jin (this one is nice)
Freddie Gibbs
J.Cole
Big Boi
Big Sean (He does talk about sex, drugs, and money, but he's good at it)
Hell, even Drake!
Anyway, T-Pain is the only artist out right now that still uses auto-tune heavily. Kanye West really only used it in 808 and hearbreaks, and that's 'bout it.

[QUOTE="GreyskullPower"]I Wish that it wasn't allowed to boycott companies to create or stop making things.Cherokee_JackSo everyone would be legally required to buy everything? Woah. Huh? Did I not say that if you don't like something, don't buy it? It is not my business what a company makes. If they make something I don't like, I don't buy it. If they are not making something I do like, then I either suggest that they make it, or I deal with it. Not boycott the company
