I don't care for them.  All they do is waste developers time/budget while showing me nothing significant about the product.

ConanTheStoner

Except, you know, what the game will be about and the vibe that they're going for (most of the time).

I cant say I've seen many CGI trailers that give me a good idea for the game.  Target renders sure, but that's a bit different.  They're trying to show a representation of what they hope the final product will be.

If I don't see some sort of gameplay I'm not really interested.  And when the visuals are far beyond what the game could possibly ever be then whats the point?  Its pretty much just "hey, look at what this CG team did, pretty cool huh?"...  often times these trailers arent even developed by the studio making the game.

I'm sure there are examples to support either side of the argument, but more often than not I find these trailers to be a waste.

I disagree completely but fine. Whatever, I wont argue, I'd be hitting my head against a wall for the next hour or so if I did except it wouldn't be as entertaining.

I'm surprised so many people are excited for this game; I just can't bring myself to care for this title.

[QUOTE="heeweesRus"][QUOTE="funsohng"] They are on my wishlist but Im not sure if I will play them any time soonfunsohng
Get Max Payne 3. Easily the best game of 2012, imo.

Really? considering your taste, I'm not sure if I want it now.

A broken clock is right once a day, or something like that.

I haven't played Max Payne 3, but, I've heard nothing but good things concerning its gameplay/gunplay for being so smooth, visceral, and entertaining to boot; some people have even called it one of the best TPS of the generation right next to critically liked games such as Vanquish and Gears of War.

Story seems a little disappointing this time around so if you were a fan of the first two and their story (assuming you played the first two) then keep that in mind as you play the game. Still, from a gameplay perspective you probaly couldn't go wrong with either of them as, for the most part (that I've heard), they're both really solid in those areas; it's just from a story perspective they both are a little underwhelming.

Again, that's just what I've heard and seen.

Company can't accept its failure, continues to be a dick about it.

KungfuKitten

At least they allowed the criticism of DNF. I know of companies who literally block out all negative feed on their games so unless you have good things to say they will not even consider your opinion valid.

You think that game was going to be any good?

Anyways, only two games; I'll wait for when they have a bit more on their track record before I decide to throw them out the door.

the_bi99man

Only two games? They've done more than Borderlands. They also made the Brothers in Arms games, and the original Half Life expansions, Blue Shift and Opposing Force, plus the Half Life ports for Dreamcast and PS2. And they worked on the retail version of original Counterstrike (before Source), and CS: Condition Zero. Then there's Duke Nukem Forever, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

I was referring to DNF and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

For once I agree with you. The rage (even if fake) on both sides is very amusing.

I honestly don't care.

What they do for me is they set the mood and tone for the game and what the game will basically be about. For example: Wolfenstein: The New Order trailer (just off the top of my head) shows I'll be fighting robots in the new Wolfenstein game or GTA V trailer showcases the city, certain things that I will probably be able to do within that city, and set up the main characters that we will be playing as in this new iteration. They're just, for the most part, cool looking trailers that give you very barebones information on the game (and I must emphasize barebones); of course sometimes they don't even do that like the Dead Island trailer.

Still, I don't get people's probelm with them. If you're smart then you'd know to just wait for when we start getting more information on the game like actual ingame footage and whatnot and if not then fine; pre-order based off of a CGI trailer. What you do and how you operate is not any of my concern and that's your choice. I prefer to wait for reviews and gameplay footage to see whether or not I'dperhaps fancy the game, but, agian, that's totally up to the individual consumer on what product he buys and the reasons behind that purchase.

I also think this would've been better to do at the end of the year or maybe even next year. Not only because of the "honeymoon period" of TLOU but there are also some pretty big games coming out in the coming months that are still part of the gen being polled.Kaze_no_Mirai

Then we'd be in the honeymoon phase of GTA V.
