That may be true, but I guarantee you the Ultra specification on PC will look 100x better than the console version, ESPECIALLY if you do Ultra HD gaming, like 2560x1600 or higher resolution. The consoles run at 1080p...
There is just no comparison for most people. They see it as this.... Do you want a DVR or a gaming machine? I think it really is that black and white for the average consumer, and unless MS can sell the system as a gaming machine, it'll just end up a FAD like the Wii. So in a way, it's win win for MS, because the Wii did sell a shit ton before it died out.
I hear ya, but the facts are true, I mean computing is all about efficiency, if a 300 watt console could do what a 1,200 watt pc could do, it'd have to be the greatest invention of all time, and it'd run hot as hell and be loud as hell, and costs insane amounts of money to buy. You should see the chart and numbers that they put out, they even acknowledge that in 05-06 consoles had a small gap of being ahead of PC's, but that it will never happen again. Its a good read man, seriously you should check it out, interesting as hell.
I'm getting both next gen's though PS4 first. All I know is my dual gpu quad core OC'd to hell God PC will wreck this game, compared to next gen's. You can call PC fanboys, exactly that, but it doesn't change the fact that PC's will always be more powerful than consoles, even Nvidia came out recently saying that consoles will never again be able to catch PC's, it comes down to space and watts, and consoles cannot match a 1,200 Watt monster PSU. Hell the graphics cards I have pull 700 watts alone, not including other components. The consoles will be like 300 watts total to keep them quite and cool.
You are right, but real world gains will probably be nil because I don't see next gen games having memory bandwidth as a bottleneck, but it definitely will not hurt and who knows maybe some titles will sap that bandwidth. I haven't looked at the specs enough to know the bandwidth between each component, but I'd still bet that the bottleneck isn't the memory bandwidth in the new consoles. My guess is that devs are used to programming for GDDR5 based graphics cards in the PC market.
Wow super fanboy huh? You do realize that Sony from the get go had these policies, and Microsoft from the beginning did not. It's MS who reversed the decision after seeing how angry everyone got. PS2 was also leagues better than the Dreamcast, I had both, and sold my Dreamcast to a friend so that I could get a PS2. The PS2 is still the best selling console of all time.
