The problem with cloud computing, is when the server crashes. If Microsoft couldn't make a system bulletproof for storing something as simple as phone data, well........I don't know what companies think they can do with video games.

Call me a cheap gamer, but I picked it up for $29 for the PS3 edition (sale at a local store, unfortunately it only applied to the PS3 version, PC/360 were still full price ;/), and that's about the most I'd have paid for it. The DLC isn't really anything special (aside from Broken Steel due to the increased level cap) if that's your main incentive to pick it up at that price.

Hopefully having my Final Fantasy XI account linked to my SquareEnix account ups my odds of getting in, given they ask for your account's name during sign-up if you do. ;/

If hackers ever did find a way to execute their own code on a PS3, like a virus, I think they'd be more interested in trying to figure out how to do a particular something else that would be more beneficial to them.

My PS3 has been fine, although some of the higher-end games do tax the hardware more, meaning the fan tends to kick in, and stay up for awhile.

Only 'weird' noise I get is when I'm browsing the PS Store, where it sounds like the fan make a flutter noise for some reason, as it's only within the store, and that's it.

(for what it's worth, I got a MGS4-bundle PS3)

The DLC cars are a bith unbalanced in the sense that they slightly edge out even the most powerful cars already in the game.

The GT Nighthawk is one of the better speed cars out (DLC), along with the Delorean rip-off as far as stunts are concerned (easy to safely do double barrel-rolls on a lot of jumps in that puppy).

There's the hot rod as well, but it's almost uncontrollable at its max speed due to boost being locked once you hit it, and it is extremely susceptible to crashing on the smallest of things, so I'm not counting it.

It's fine for gaming.

Main points the 2000/3000 have over 1000 are better screens, slightly longer battery life, component-video out, and doubled onboard memory (which is only used for Internet Browser, and Skype)

Anyone played the demo yet?

Trying to determine what the average length of it is, as it's a hefty 2.4gb download. Not bothering if it's just for a 10-15min adventure.

May sound like a stupid question, but are you setting the PSP into USB mode when you hook it up?

Also, when you say "USB" by itself, are you referring to a storage device? If so, they have to be formatted in FAT32 for the PS3 to read. NTSC and the like are not compatible with it.

In theory, the downloadable copy should be cheaper, but then retailers would complain that they're being undercut by the online store, and that would cause unneeded stuff from happening.

At any rate, for losing the physical media, keep in mind the digital copy's load times will beat the UMD copy hands down, and that your battery life will be stressed less by the removed need to load data from the UMD drive.
