[QUOTE="Gambler_3"][QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"] Ding, Ding, Ding! Generalisations aren't your friend. And tell me this: what effect does their skin tone have on their ability to sell shampoo? LJS9502_basic
Because if an attractive girl is selling shampoo then more men would be attracted and it may potentially have more sales.

Isn't L'Oreal a company for beauty products for women?

No it has plenty of products just for men...

[QUOTE="Gambler_3"]And we all have many shared likes and dislikes. Like most people dont like a huge nose, most people dont like rough hair on a woman, most people dont like flat butts etc etc. When many people have many shared likes and dislikes then the unique preferences we have dont make it entirely subjective as you are making it out to be. In my country pakistan, woman of fairer skins generally get alot more attention than the ones of darker skin. If it's all so subjective as you are making it to be then why is that so? Why do people get depressed over their looks if it's all so subjective?:|LJS9502_basic

No that is wrong. There are people with similar taste....there is no universal beauty.

Just because something isnt 100% objective does not make it entirely subjective.:|

[QUOTE="Gambler_3"][QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"] Heck, asian women were told that the positions had already been filled, when they had not. Are you seriously saying there's no racial discrimination in this?Ninja-Hippo

Well if those asian woman had white skin tone then yes perhaps you can call that discrimination. But then again maybe the company wants people of their own country in their ad?

Why do you continuously insist on referencing some non-existant ad? There is no ad. This is not a modelling job. There is no advert being made. It was for over a hundred sales reps to sell and market shampoo in supermarkets all over France.

Nobody is making a fuss over less attractive white women being turned down because they were turned down for not being attractive enough; not for being WHITE.

You also say maybe they wanted someone from their own country; how is a black french citizen any less a member of the country of france than a white person? :|

Marketing is still a form of advertising. It's not a TV ad but it's a like a "live" ad... And they are rejecting non-white cuz they associate it with unattractiveness, why is it hard to accept their "opinion"?? From their country AND good looking...

[QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"][QUOTE="Brainkiller05"] How do you know :| I don't see it as racist, It's completely up to the person in charge whether he wants whites/asians/blacks/other to be the face of their product.

It wasn't for TV. Why do people keep boiling this down to a model on TV scenario? It was for sales reps marketing and selling the company's shampoo. It had nothing to do with TV commercials. In TV, you can obviously choose a person who looks a certain way to reach a certain demographic. But a saleswoman? Refusing to hire non-white people to SELL your product? Ridiculous. Are you telling me people wouldn't buy shampoo from an employee who is non-white? There is no justification for this at all.

I myself would try a free product if the chick is hot even if I am not particularly interested in the product itself and I am sure the same is the case with many guys...

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"][QUOTE="Brainkiller05"][QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"] But there is no justification or purpose for them only hiring white people. :|

According to anti discrimination laws....it's not though. You can't hire based on race.

They only wanted a particular physical characteristic in their job.

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"][QUOTE="Gambler_3"]Well some people are more attractive than others, what do we do? Keep quiet? I do see beauty in other races. Like I generally dont like asian girls(chinese, japanese) but I do find some to be very beautiful.

I don't believe we should judge on how people look. Why must we say anything?

Nobody was judging, we are only talking about sexual attraction which is "purely" to do with looks.

[QUOTE="gamertylers"][QUOTE="Gambler_3"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] Beauty is subjective.....

Only to an extent... Infact in something like this it's not really cuz you have to find the woman whom the majority of your target audience will find most attactive and the one odd exception who happens to find it ugly just doesnt matter. The majority of men do prefer women of fairer skin...

got some link to back that up?

Well if those asian woman had white skin tone then yes perhaps you can call that discrimination. But then again maybe the company wants people of their own country in their ad? An asian woman will mostly be recognizable as being asian. I dont see anything wrong in wanting to have woman of your own country in a particular ad. Remember this is a cosmetic job... You do know that less attractive white woman would also not be able to get this job, why is nobody raising an issue there???
