[QUOTE="Galen20K"]I would go with the Samsung, I own the LN46A750 and it's AMazing!!! You will not be sorry. - DLobster_Ear
That's nice and all, but I asked about the 550 not the 750. Two completely different sets. Of course I would choose the 750 over the v4100, but from what I've heard, the Sony is better the the Sammy a550. (Crisper picture, better game mode).

I'm very Aware that you were asking about the 550 but the 750 has a Much more Noticable Darker Blacks and MOre amazing Accurate Colors than the 550.

Just a suggestion!

- D GOod luck!

Both rentals and purchase - I usually try and purchase them used. It's worked well for me so far. (Planet Earth in 1080p is GORGEOUS)

boyinfridge

I take it you have the UK version then because the US version is 1080i

NO you're wrong, Planet Earth for the US IS 1080p, Mine runs in 1080p also and its the US version.

If you want a display that will play your HD console and PC gaming in the right aspect ratio, check this out.

16:9 and 16:10 is what I look for first. And a lot of retailers and websites will falsely advertise this on purpose. Most if not all will even fail to mention the aspect ratio. I've been waiting and searching near and far for an LCD Monitor that will do that and I think I've finally found it.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001280

Not only does this LCD HDTV monitor by Samsung have a resolution of 1920x1200, in HDMI mode, it is switched to 16:9 ratio. So not only will you be able to play your PC games and surf the web in glorified 1920x1200 but you will also be able to watch Blurays, dvds, and play console games (like Xbox 360, PS3) at 16:9 like it's suppose to be!

I know from personal experience that the LCD monitor I have now does have HDMI but it displays my Xbox 360 and PS3 at a distorted and stretched 16:10. 16:10 is purely for LCD monitors, while 16:9 is mainly for HDTVs. So I found this awesome LCD HDTV monitor and it has (16:9, 16:10, 4:3) modes. This is your one-stop-shop. The price is totally worth it, at $469.99 on www.newegg.com. I've looked everywhere and the price can't be beat. Free shipping too!

I love Samsung HDTVs. I have a 46" Touch of Color Series 7 Samsung in my living room (also in my sig) and they're absolutely great. If you have $500 saved up, please spend it on this LCD HDTV monitor. It will provide you with all your gaming needs for your average multi-platform gamer.

I just ordered one myself. I'm getting rid of this BenQ.

Elann2008

I couldn't have said it BETTER myself!!! I agree with Elann's Entire reasoning, and that Does LOok like a Great Monitor and I also have the same Series 7 46"inch 1080p HDTV, check my sig, and he's so Right about that Also!!!

WEll then no, its not Enough of a difference if you dont want to go higher in size.

720p is Perfect for 40 inches really, cant tell the difference on anything under 46inches.

And you can always upgrade Later in like a year and seeing as you're getting a good price I'd say just go for it.

ITs got decent Specs for the Price and its a Samsung, I am a HUGE Fan of Samsung HDTVs so I may be a bit biased.

This Moniter is Nice tho and Samsungs are known for their Deep Blacks and Accurate colors so if its anything like the one I have it should be Nice!

RomanticFool

I Completely Agree< I LOve Watching Planet EArth in FULL HD also.

I dont really like to rent tho i get them for free through a friend who Manages a store but usually I almost Always Buy movies.

I have about 14 Blu-Rays, but I am very Hesitant to buy them as a Whirlwind purchase, I try to hold off a while before I buy it in hopes it'll drop or go on sale.

I say Samsung because their Known for their Deep BLacks and Accurate Colors in their displays. Yes tho all of those TVs you've listed are 720p, I agree with the notion to go a bit Larger for 1080p.
