@kraken2109: What I do is I install/download all games to the SSD initially. Then if it is a game I do not play much or doesnt need the SSD (like terraria) I then use steamtool to move it over to the HDD which still allows me to play it, just off the HDD. I have never downloaded/installed a steam game straight onto the HDD to check load times.

IMO the tool must be working correctly as when I use it to take a game off the SSD onto the HDD the free space increases massively when looking at the SSD drive in my computer and the HDD free space decreases therefore the tool MUST be moving the game to the HDD, it's just the loading times staying identical :S

BTW also downloaded a program called Hwinfo64 that has shown both my SSD and HDD are running at SATA 6.

Hello everyone.

My computer has a 120GB Kingston Hyperx3 SSD and a 1TB 7200rpm HDD.My operating system (Windows 8.1) and steam are both installed on the SSD and I use my HDD for storing media etc
My SSD currently has 85GB of free space, is set up for TRIM and is Trimmed manually once a fortnight.
I am using a program called SteamTool (I'm sure you are all aware of it) which basically allows you to move games effortlessly from the SSD to the HDD and vice versa to save space on SSD for lesser played games.

However the problem I am having is that games seem to take the exact same time to load regardless of where they are installed/kept?
I have tried many ways such as installing them first to the SSD then moving them to the HDD, installing them to the HDD and moving them to the SSD etc nothing is effecting the loading times?!

Examples are:

Skyrim from the main menu to getting into game took 9 seconds on the SSD, exactly the same once it was moved to the HDD over 3 attempts each in both locations.
Crysis 2 from the main menu to getting into game took 15 seconds on SSD, exactly the same time once it was moved to the HDD, again 3 attempts in each location made, always exactly the same.

Am I doing something stupid here?

It takes my computer just 9 seconds to load up fully from a complete shutdown.

Other specs are:
Intel i5 quad-core 3.4ghz
8GB Ram
Nvidia 660ti GPU

Hello everyone

Need some advice about the files shown highlighted in the picture below. I have a computer with both an SSD and HDD, I installed windows 8.1, my main programs and games on my SSD (C:) and all my other files go on the HDD. (D:)

I have a funny feeling they relate to the Windows installation as they are almost 1GB and therefore terrified of deleting them even though they are temporary .tmp files.

Google does not recognise the file name at all, any ideas?

BTW is 475 pounds really enough to live on? Maybe you should consider a room mate?

deeliman

Oh forgot to mention the whole rent/tax isnt just me, I live with my partner who pays half of it so my bill is closer to £400 than £800.

So let's say we are starting a fresh september 6th, that means after paying my rent on 6th every month i could theoretically spend the rest of my money the next day (not that i ever would) and get paid again before next rent due date.

Hello everyone, like more and more people my pay is now 4 weekly as apposed to monthly and I have a query.

I pay rent Monthly and like stated, get paid four weekly and I am struggling to work out how much I can spend every pay period without a rental bill becoming hard to pay for if that makes sense.

My plan starts off well as my rent comes out on the 6th of every month so next bill is September 6th, and I just so happen to be paid 6th september, it will then go:

September 6th October 4th November 1st November 29th December 27th January 24th Febuary 21st March 21st April 18th May 16th June 13th July 11th August 8th.

Maybe I am being really stupid or ive been awake too long but is there any time where I end up being paid AFTER my rent bill or a time where two rent bills come up in a period where I am only paid once.

Hope this makes sense :S

PS: I get paid £1300 every four weeks and my rent/tax is £825 a month.

Hello everyone.

I recently wanted to get into PC gaming and so I have purchased a great gaming pc which runs a treat and is windows 8, However I am having an issue with my wireless internet that no google search can solve.

My Router is situated literally 3 feet from my computer and the wireless signal is always showing as 'excellent' and is full bars at all times. However every 5-6 minutes all my pages on my browser will suddenly stop loading as if the connection had dropped. The signal continues to stay excellent and then approximately 30 seconds/1 minute later it all comes back on and runs speedily again for another 5-6 minutes before everything stops again.

I have tried the obvious things such as changing wireless channel (from 1 through to 11) and it never changes. Ive also tried disabling my antivirus etc but again this makes no difference.

What makes it the most odd is that we have two laptops in our house which never skip a beat with the internet and it will work for hours on end.

Another point which I am unsure if it is relevant or not is that when playing Planetside 2 the connection never drops and it runs fine for hours, however trying to play league of legends I can guarantee that within 10 seconds of a new game loading up it will disconnect and close down.

Any ideas/tips?
