Microsoft is viewed, in my mind as some evil corporation out to get us all. I admit, some of their business practices are questionable. The bottom-line is, we live in a free-market society and Microsoft, despite numerous blunders, delivers the goods. Inevitably, the future of gaming is going to be tied to multi-platforms and various providers of various services. It won't just be Microsoft then. So step back and take a deep breath. . .
The bottom line, with the release of Vista and the advent and market-share slowly coming to the x64 and dual-chip generation, coupled with advanced PCIe video umphf-the pc is the powerhouse and will remain to be. It's economics though. A PC gamer just has to shell out more, more often to keep his/her rig up-to-par for the current gen of games out on our platform. Microsoft wanting to cross-platform games, Shadowbane and a few others so far that I'm aware of-great! It adds a larger base, more development attention to both sides. I have friends who aren't PC-Gamers but, are die-hard X-Box 360 players; alas we can play together! Why the angst?
Besides, most of the cross-platformed games are going to be online games. I don't play many multiplayer games. Maybe that is why I'm not as fumed. Though, when the time comes I will purchase a game-time card or whathaveyou to play what multi-player games I have that are platformed via the 360. If you don't want to play cross-platformed as the poster above me highlight; it's free anyway-no big deal.
