Watching this made me realize why I stopped playing CoD 5 years ago. It also made me realize why I stopped playing my 360 and in McDonalds play land. to many damn little kids. Thanks CoD fan base for staying there and not bleeding over to other games/platforms I care about and making it easy to know what to avoid.
I give it 3 years max before phones/tables out spec these consoles. the rate at which these devices have been getting better is crazy. I mean Haswell CPUs are almost in the power requirement range for these devices. So one or 2 more generations from Intel and we will have the power of a desktop CPU in phone/tablets. same with Tegra. I give it until tegra 5 and it will be better then what the ps4/xb1 have. We will see more micro consoles that destroy the hardware of these consoles, and we will be able to get them far cheaper or hell TVs in 3 years will be more powerful then these consoles.
If the mobile market wasn't taking off like it is now I would be singing a different tune about these. but with cloud gaming becoming a very real thing you wont need huge dedicated gaming consoles like these for very much longer and I think this will be the last generation of the console as we know it. But if you would have told me about the how crazy phones/tablets..etc will explode 10 years ago I would have laughed at you. I think its just awkward for MS/Sony to release a console in the middle of such a huge para-dime shift. I think this is one of the reasons why Nintendo is doing so shitty right now. I still think ~2010-2011 was the best time to bring out a new console. The mobile market wasn't in the middle of exploding and the 360/ps3 hardware was already old as shit at that point. What I'm getting at is there is no chance in hell these consoles are going to last 10 years.
With install bases as large as the 360/ps3 devs cant ignore that. and with MS and Sony still going to support them for at least the next 2 or 3 years, we are going to keep getting multiplat releases where the xb1,360,ps3,ps4 all get the same game. and since the hardware in the xb1/ps4 is nothing to write home about you wont see these super amazing jumps in graphics. it costs way to much to keep pushing graphics and the hardware is not good enough to push it that much anyway. I seriously don't think it will look much better than what bf4 looks like. What we will see are just bigger maps and fewer loading times.
I have a feeling its going to be like this for the next 2 years. or at least until the ps3/360 stop being supported. everyone who picks up these next gen consoles will now feel what PC gamers have been going through for the last 6 years.
I don't brag about 60+fps on PCs. this has been standard ever since I became a PC gamer. Iv been gaming on PC for over 20 years now.
same with 120FPS gaming ( CRTs could do this just fine back before LCDs)
PC gamers can boast about the Oculis rift, 4k gaming, 4k surround gaming (3 x 4k monitors), surround 3d gaming, cheap ass game prices(steam,amazon,gog,gmg...etc sales) and more exclusives than both consoles combined. just to name a few things. its an amazing time to be a PC gamer.
60 FPS is nothing new to PC. I know I have been gaming @60+ fps for the last 20 years on PC. it just depends on the game settings and the hardware you use.
I cant wait for 4k 120hz monitors. But I give it a few years before we get those.
I really don't think the xb1 and ps4 have the power to do 1080p 60 FPS gaming. I seriously doubt most console gamers even know what gaming at real 1080p looks like (not that upscaled crap the 360/ps3 does now) let alone 60 fps. if these consoles have to last the next 10 years they might as well just lock it down to 30 fps again. No since on giving them 60fps if they will just end up having to take it away in a few years to get more out of their games. 30fps is just an easy target to hit on aging hardware
