I think its easier to list the 3 games that were good this year.

As it stands now 2014 now holds the crown for worst year yet in my ~29 years of gaming.

2015 looks to be either one amazing year or a year that tops this one with the shear amount of utter crap.

I dont think you really want to go down the path of who gets what game first. because PC will easily win that game too.

if you are set in getting one of these Alpha boxes wait for them to put in the 900m cards in them. but also if you are expecting the xb1/ps4 to last as long as the 360/ps3 did then you are mistaken. I give these consoles 6 years tops. which I built an 800$ PC in 08 and Iv yet to even think about upgrading it. I built a new PC last year more because I had the money and I was feeling the itch to do it again and because I enjoy building PCs. a 600-700$ PC these days will last you a really long time. and with games on PC being so damn cheap and the fact you dont have to pay a subscription fee to play them off sets the initial cost of a PC. iv read that long term ownership of a console ends up costing more because of all the extra cost to buy games and subscriptions to XBL/PSN start to add up pretty quick.

Really if you take a budge of 10k to spend over 10 years on gaming. Then you take stock of what you got with that 10k over that 10 years you would end with better hardware then what you started with and a crap load more games on PC than on a console. to be fair I dont think I could spend 10k on a console because there where maybe like 4 or 5 games that whole last gen on 360(cant speak for ps3 since I never bought one) that I even liked and even less than that on my Wii.

my point here is $ per $ your $ will go further on PC in the long term and you will end up with better hardware and a metric butt ton more games in the end. It also helps that the games you buy now or even 20 years ago can still be played on any new system you build. You are building a life time collection not just one for that single system at that single point in time. What a hassle it is to drag my 360 out any time I want to play one of those games. I dont have that issue with my Wii games since I can just play those games on my PC anyway(emulators).

I game on and have been gaming on console my whole life and PCs since I was about 12/13. but this current gen consoles are so underwhelming to me that this will be the first console gen in the 30 years iv been gaming that 1. I'm even remotely excited about and 2. a good chance I dont get any of them. This makes me a little sad. but having like 30 games in my backlog on PC I think ill be just fine.

Random side note that I find funny. So I have been keeping track of the games Iv beat since 2011. in 2011 I beat 44 games and I still had a backlog. in 2012 I beat 55 games and I still had a backlog in 2013 I beat 43 games and I still had a backlog.

Mouse and keyboard in FPS games I view the say way you do going from console to PC. once you learn M/KB you can never go back. sure controllers still work better for racing, sports and some platformer games but no way for FPS or any other type of game.

Trust me its worth it for FPS games. I used to play FPS games back in the day with keyboard only. after I spend the 2 weeks getting proficient with m/kb I still ask my self how the hell I ever managed to play games that way.

You should go and try playing quake live(its free on steam) with a controller. Getting completely decimated in a game(and you will) is how I finally realized that maybe there was something to this whole m/kb thing in FPS games.

Unless you are like me and have cds from games from ~ 2007- ~1991 you dont need a disk drive. and even than im sure you can find most of those games. with that said a USB dvd drive will run you around $15 - $30 if one really wants to mess stupid archaic media.

Id love GS to share the raw uncompressed files from this. Also the PC specs they run this on. because compression makes all videos look like crap.

with PC you will get better FPS and better resolution (1440p,4k...etc) this will make the game look and play better. You cant get this across with a low res video running at 30fps.

@starfox15 hell Uplay is more enticing than GFWL. at least uplay f'n works and can at least patch games most of the time.

This is bad news. GFWL needs to die in a fire. I don't care if it takes all the games that use it with it, it just needs to die. also that article for dirt 3 is from Nov 2013.codemasters have not said crap about removing it from dirt 3 since than. I wish they would just hurry up and remove it and then remove it from dirt 2 since that is just a better game then put it back up on steam. hell I bought dirt 1 after i played dirt 2 because I wanted more dirt games. I'm sure there are new PC gamers that would do the same with all the old dirt games as well if they even bothered to put them up on steam again.

How shocking. A $hit port running like $hit. But really this looks and runs better than I was expecting out of this cheap PC.
