e6600 Asus mobo(SLI is currently outdated unless you have a extra 1k to spend) 2gbs 1066 ram(about 250-300 bucks) For drives just buy one DVD/CD RW, and one CD-Rom 52x[reader only] Good HD choice. Onboard sound is fine. Wayyy wrong vid card, get a 8800gts 320mb so you won't be stipped for cash in a year or so when you want a better card.(I have a feeling dx10 is gonna move fast) Just a general idea of what you should be getting, remember. Get DX10, SLI is currently useless unless your bill gates, you need at least 2gbs, meybe even 3-4. For a OS get vista home premium, install with 32-bit since 64-bit has some problems wth alot of xp games. I know my advice at the moment sucks but I'm bent out tired. i'll send you a pm or post later tomarrow wiht more advice, g'luck.

Hey everybody.  The company I work for is doing pretty good this quarter so I will be getting a bonus at the end of march, so I decided to put it towards a new comp.  Currently I can't run crap so I decided it was time to upgrade. My goal is to be able to run Oblivion at MAX with no problems. Here is what my current plan is...

Main system I will purchase from Dell.  I looked into building it myself, but when I added the componets up it was either the same or just under what I would pay from dell without a warrenty.

Dimension E521
Vista Premium
AMD 64X2 5000+
2GB RAM
250GB HD
16x DVD/RW  (ill buy a better second drive later)
19in DVI LCD
No video card, cuz they only offer crap.

This priced out to $1,079, which is not too shabby.

Then I'd like to pick up this bad boy (EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640mb ):
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2597918&Sku=E145-8002

YET, I've got Power supply issues now...the E521 comes with a 375w power supply and according to tiger direct the EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640 card requires 400w...Also i'm planning on running dual DVI monitors in the future off of the card, does anyone know if that requires a bigger power supply?

With the card and the comp I think I'm at the limit of my budget.

Any opinions and comments would be greatly appriciated.

I'd reccomend getting a niiiice psu, about 70 bucks to run that card under heavy load.

Well since you haven't been paying attention, let me refresh your memory by saying, that sucks complete ass. Heres what you should look for. Core 2 Duo e6300, or e4300, basically same processor, except the e4300 doesn't have 1066 memory buss, only 800 Asus motherboard. Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820161029 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817159040 Graphics card: Get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814121031, or the 8600GTS for 220 when it comes out on the 17th of april. HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822136062 OS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16832116204 Drives are like 20 bucks for a nice DVD-R, 52x rw CD drives are like 10 bones. Just find those parts of tigerdirect.ca or ncix.ca .

[QUOTE="Cyborg-21"]Yeah I'm british. I can't get the £ sign on the topic title for some reason :) Anyway, what do you think of these specs: Intel Core Duo T2060 Windows Vista Home Basic 1024mb RAM 80GB HDD at 5400 RPM Integrated Wi-Fi All for £429. Is that a good deal ?

Good deal for a thin lappy, you could do much better with a bigger one but that looks pretty good, remember basic doesn't have aero ;).

[QUOTE="Cyborg-21"]I'm looking for a laptop that's portable, is not that heavy, comes with 1GB RAM and built-in Wi-Fi all for under £400. This is mainly for work and not for gaming. Would a dual-core processor fit under that price ? Thanks for your recommedations in advance.

I'm guessing your british or you just like 400 pound laptops.... I can't think of any specific models, but Acer and Asus make extremely good lappys.

I don't know a whole lot about water cooling, but they are extremely effective since it's basically like pouring ice cold water on your cpu. Just pray the tubes don't bust ;). Another thing, even though it's unconstitutional the only "legal" way to avoid taxs will still allow them to put you in jail, can't win till theres a uprising :P.[ot]

Those should work fine, just remember to set the timings to the same as your xms2. They're the same voltage aswell so it should work fine.
