@Tinhamodic It's more like they only half remember really. While I applaud them for allowing their game to be modded, they still try to profit from DLC.

I've no qualms against a dev trying to earn money from their game, but I yearn for the days of full blown expansion packs. Back then, the extra content wasn't just a few extra maps and/or items, but entire campaigns as well, plus whole extra game mechanics on top of that.

To take my above example of Neverwinter Nights, when the two expansions were released they added not only an extra campaign each, but as many new character classes as the main game had, dozens of extra feats and spells, extra items and item effects, and many extra features that could be used within the inbuilt toolset. I would happily shell out extra cash if devs these days would add even half that amount of content to their games in one go.

Instead, these days each DLC contains a map or two, or a couple of extra items, or a small hour long campaign, or some character skins. It's drip fed, and the end result is all that DLC adds up to less content than an old expansion pack used to, for a much larger total cost.

Does anyone remember the good old days, when games developers released creation tools to the community and you could download thousands upon thousands of maps and mods for your favourite games, all for free?

I don't don't envy today's gamers their DLC at all.

It's a great game, and I enjoy playing it, but it suffers greatly from a hotkey problem. As in, there aren't ANY, except for the four keys to move around the map. If they could just implement some hotkeys, and maybe a "fortify" option for units (though that's something I can live without if I must), I'd be very happy.

Also, the review mentions that you can't raze cities once you capture them. Actually you CAN raze them. There's a little button next to the city name in the city screen that destroys it, allowing you to build in a more strategic location should you wish.
