I understand his PoV, and the devs themselves. And while I've not seen this be a *huge* problem at Xbox, some devs and publishers are fostering an environment for this kind of thing to exist, by continuing to release bad products and bad implementations of bad mechanics (think mxt, nft) that people just don't want to see.

Personally, I believe in voting with my wallet... but it's getting harder to condemn anybody after seeing every excuse in the universe delivered before a valuable product is.

idk. MS's acquisition was all-cash, which I'm sure was a really big point to the Board. I don't think Sony's got the liquidity to tackle EA in the same manner. And while EA does also put out sh*t games on golden IP, it's not as embroiled in controversy as Acti/Blizz.

That's a shame, but okay with me as long as it's better than DA3. I'll already be waiting until after all the reviews are out, what's a little more time?

@dirtydyk: Skipping over the vast amount of knowledge you seem to have about me (lol) this still does not speak to the necessity of a scoreboard.

For nostalgia's sake, and since stats were fresh on my mind, I went and visited the old stat tracking websites provided by DICE/EA for Battlefield 3 and 4. And wow, are they in depth. So the argument that "real players use the scoreboard" is undone by two things brought forth from that site.

1st is that it exists outside of the game, never once hindering the experience (in that you don't have to worry checking midgame about your placement, and you are in a more natural way to play the game.)

2nd is that the info is WAY more detailed. I mean, it boggles the mind you didn't mention the site, since you seem so keen on "gittin gud."

@dirtydyk: I changed my mind. Someone needs to take you to school.

Like... you understand that a game that is meant to be a simulation of a sport (which would require the scoreboard) is different than a war simulation, yes?

@dirtydyk: Check again. I don't believe you understand "necessity". It's not the same as "want". And the value of that "want" falls very short of the problems it inherently brings along with it.

@dirtydyk: So, I'm to understand that because you think people that do not see the necessity of the feature as scrubs that need to get good, is indeed the necessity of the feature?

Funnily enough, you say "get good scrub," and yet this discourse is like trying to explain why the sky is blue to an infant. I'm done. Have a good day :)

@dirtydyk: And none of this indicates the necessity of a scoreboard. In fact, the proper way, and in line with what kind of game Battlefield is, is to show just the player's stats. There is absolutely no need for players to see other people's stats other than, after a losing game, finding someone to point at and go 'oh, that scrub needs to get good, it's obviously their fault we lost this game.' All the meanwhile entirely ignoring the fact that all too often, people rotate captures on conquest instead of capturing and defending.

LOL. While, yeah, it's cool to see where you stand, the scoreboard in BF has always been... eh. With being able to top the charts with a terrible K/D, by playing objectives and what have you, I think this feature is actually something that is entirely not-needed. More often than not, I've seen players bully others because they weren't too good at the game, and on private servers, being too good or too bad would get folks banned.

But I suppose the need to validate oneself IS that important lol.
