Damn, I've been steaming about this all day as well. I really liked the old dashboard the way it was, and just as I'm starting to get really comfortable and loving it, they change it up and give us some gay mii rip-off. If I wanted a lame cartoony avatar, I would have gotten a wii. But I didn't. I got a 360. Dammit Microsoft, why can't you stop stealing other companies fads, and come up with some innovation that will actually please your customers? Why the hell didn't they just spend the time and money they invested in producing these crappy avatars into making something xbox users would actually want? Did anybody ask for these stupid avatars? Who at Microsoft thought that this was a good idea? Damn, but I'm royally pissed off; I spent my money on a 360, not a rip off of a wii.

I totally agree. I've seriously been mad about this all day. Scary, when I told my friend about this, I used almost the exact same wording you just did.
The new one looks like it's going to SUCK. I don't want to have some super gay "Avatar." I want the my manly gamerpic of Ryu Hayabusa. Now the dashboard looks completely childish. Whatever happened to the manliness of the Xbox? The current (old) dashboard has scrolling BLADES and just had manliness written all over it. This one has AVATARS that will probably bob up and down like happy little fruitcakes. I hate this. Damn it, I wish every game company would stop trying to appeal to stupid little kids and casual gamers. I swear, 10 years from now, every game will probably be shallow and have no substance at all because all it is is another dumbed-down mainstream entity. It's been turning into that for the past few years. Ugh.
After making every possible change that I read about, and powering down and rebooting the stuff, it still didn't work. Though, I got so mad that I just decided to quit and I put the IP address back to Automatic, and it worked! It shouldn't, though, because the ports aren't even open for the new IP address it gave. I don't get it! Until next time...
I've done all the recommended changes, but the only thing I never did was power down the router and adapter or whatever after making changes. Could that have something to do with it?
My friend and I have had a history of not being able to connect to each other, and ONLY each other. We can't join each other's matches, in any game, if one of us is the host. As far as private chat goes, if we get an invite, it just says "Joining chat" and it never does anything. His NAT is Open, and mine is currently on Moderate. Though, my NAT randomly changes from Moderate to Open every couple weeks, and when it's on Moderate, this is when the problems occur (it never goes to Strict). When mine is on Open, everything seems to work jim dandy. You'd think this wouldn't be a problem considering we live just on the other side of town from each other. So, today, I've been trying to force my router's NAT (it's a Linksys WRT54GS) to Open. I've tried EVERYTHING. I've tried port forwarding: it's on 88 to 88 and 3074 to 3074 just like it's supposed to be. I've tried DPnP to both "enabled" and "disabled" and neither works. I've tried messing with DMZ settings, I've tried changing the IP adresses to different ones in my house, I've tried messing with the Gateway and Subnet Mask, etc. I've tried EVERYTHING. Everything that people have mentioned in other forums I found in Google, I've done it, and it failed. What's the problem? If you can help me out here, I'd REALLY appreciate it. Or, alternatively, if the problem with me and my friend not being able to connect to each other is not the NAT, please tell me. The only reason I'm trying to make the NAT Open is because of that, anyway. Thanks.
In single player, no. In single player, I think they are very fun to get and add a fun competitive layer to the game and gives you a reason to play it again. In multiplayer, not so much. Multiplayer player achievement do suck, and I'll tell you why. Because, obviously, other people are going to be hogging for them and that's inherently annoying to YOU. But then if you want to get more achievements for the game, it's going to make it a pain in the ass for you because you know you'll have to pick up that sniper and get headshots over and over a hundred times instead of just PLAYING THE GAME. This is something I applaude Call of Duty 4 for is not having multiplayer achievements, but instead having the stats and stuff that reward you for playing a certain way. I wish all games did that.
