I suspect holiday bias. I don't blame the tepid attempt at generating hype, it's what pays the bills. However, they're at least 6 iterations in and it all seems to be about multiplayer. This may be a bargain basement purchase for me, if at all.

My game purchases are few and far between these days. This review indicates that the title is underwhelming, feeling like work instead of fun. Regardless of the fluff he employs, you can't polish a turd. I'll hold off for something challenging, with comparable reward for the effort. Heck, I won't even consider getting a Series X until all the dust settles. I still feel slightly burned by the XBOX One.

Thank you for this article. The price of the 2Tb expansion drives for the series X makes waiting for the availability to purchase the Microsoft console worth while. I refuse to pay a scalper for a toy.

Fascinating, how (overall) the combat simulations are in the lower half of the statistics. Digital sales figures would help with corroborating/refuting that observation.

I have been underwhelmed. Although able to acquire a Series X or S, there is nothing absolutely must have. Sure, the quick resume feature will be great and load times dramatically reduced. There haven't been any innovative, immersive titles, for me. Heck, I would purchase a Series X immediately, if the right game came down the pike - And Gladly pay a PREMIUM for the best artwork, level design, animations, etc.

I wonder if there will be worthy "Indies" that pop up?

I always assumed it was part of the experience. I've had jerks give thumbs down, just because I disagreed with them. I haven't been This is a fantastic evolution, as I could see how it could adversely affect a person's channel. As long as the creator is able to utilize the "Down" count, it's a win-win. We need to see that our audiences care about - one way or another.

Yep, not an issue for me. The Far Cry series has been my consistent favorite for decades. The artwork, storytelling voice acting and gameplay mechanics take precedence for me. Alway have always will.

To have gamers, vociferously defending their choices, is a wonderful thing. I bet the opinions will change over time, too.

For me, Far Cry 5 is simply the best crafted narrative, for me. I prefer some of the mechanics of New Dawn but it is just truly a scaled down version of FC5.

My second place is FC3, for the same reasons as FC5. The writing and acting in FC3 is absolutlely superb. Thanks for the article, now I'll have to dive into FC Primal!!!

@pcps4xb: The Far Cry franchise has been my second favorite, after the BioShock series. I admit, I actually spend a lot of time on video pinball and games like Geometry Wars. At my age and number of games under my belt, I yearn for a new, better experience.

I'll tell you what might fit the bill: Microsoft flight simulator with scenarios - not just flying destination to destination. Emergency exercises! Hostile fire!

I also appreciate Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. IMO the sequels haven't matched up.

Too bad, I hoped PS owners would be in for a treat. Microsoft looks to be puerile, as much as Sony does. I WOULD be willing to pay PREMIUM money for the right experience. Heck, I'd jump ship to ANY console that produced incredible games, even if it cost more than an MSRP Series X! Producers don't like to bet on unknowns, thus the endless sequels...
