If you are implying that eventually people on here will come to love MW3, you are categorically incorrect. COD4 is the best multiplayer game I have ever played, every COD game since then has gotten progressively worse.gamebreakerz__
No, I'm saying people hated on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare before the sequels came out. It wasn't until the sequels came out that people realized how "amazing" Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was. Upon its release, it was dowsed with hate.

The retire part, i understand.

The die part...what?

archvile_78

If he retires, he'll stop making games, meaning he won't have any impact on your life anyway, so what's the difference? :|

[QUOTE="keech"]Did you even do any research on the game at all before playing it? Or did you just make blind assumptions about the game based on 3 pictures on the back of the box? Mistwalker is a Japanese developer, the game was a well received critically. Scratch that, not just a JRPG but one made by the creator of the Final Fantasy series. In short it is a modern JRPG rooted in the genres traditions. So any expectations you had should of been drawn from that one fact alone. I think the old saying "Look before you leap" more than applies here.

Sorry, but those characteristics do not exactly say "epic adventure" to me. More like a boring adventure that only pretentious people pretend to enjoy.

These days, it seems as though System Wars hates all the Call of Duty games after Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. People list the gems of the series as 1, 2, and 4. However, back when 4 first released, everyone hated on it. In fact, the "hype" in the Modern Warfare 2 was just a bunch of hate.

People said 4 was just a dumb downed version of 2 with no vehicles. People complained about the two weapon system, regenerating health, claustrophobic environments, lack of recoil, lack of vehicles, short, scripted campaign with infinitely respawning enemies, among many other things.

People constantly insisted that games with regenerating health systems were bad because they allowed for lazy game design. This reason was constantly nailed into peoples' heads. Remember, this was back in 2007, where this stuff was actually considered uncommon.

Fast forward to 2011, and people hardly pin any first person shooters for those design decisions these days. Back then, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was a terrible game because the health system allowed for lazy game design. But actually, it's a fantastic game! And everyone loved it! It's the endless amount of sequels that people hate, right? No, this further proves that people just hate on Call of Duty because "it's cool."

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare took shooters in modern settings, offered a create-a-class system, took a more modest approach concering America's involvement in warfare, had a large bevy of maps and modes, split-screen support, and top-of-the-line presentation values. It seems like a really impressive game for its respective time period, yet all the majority here could do was hate. But then the sequels came out, and I guess people changed their minds.

Also, people will argue that "X game did this before Call of Duty." So what? Why does Call of Duty HAVE to innovate to be good. Battlefield 3 didn't. The fact is that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare still wrapped it up in one package and was one of the few games to incorporate "X aspect." Oh, so one game did create-a-class before Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare... Okay.

That sale is almost as bad as the PS3 itself.

This looked like an epic adventure where you destroy everything in your path... But it's not. You have to watch cut-scenes about people just talking all the time, and don't even know what they're talking about. And then the battle system is like Pokemon rather than something actually fun like Dynasty Warriors. I like Pokemon, but we have enough Pokemon games. We don't need another. Some of the attacks look cool, but you're mostly just watching and waiting. At least I got four free frisbees, though.
