I dont know why people bother to play this online...its pure crap. the netcode is horrible. I have had my game freeze more than 10 times playing online. I have had unplayable lag (which is inexcusable considering the online pass) and have to wait over 5-10 min just to find someone to play in a ranked game. There is no excuse for this Boon...none at all and you should be rest assured I will never buy a product from you again. I laugh in the face of people who buy the online pass for this crap. Oh yea....and the servers have been down multiple times a day when I try to play. So there ya go.

First of all, there's no such things as spamming. There's only people losing to dumb tactics. And Secondly, WTH do you expect a fighting game to be? A game that rewards combo skills? Of course the person that gets to combo the best has an immediate advantage. But zoning, footsies and smart defense will you an even bigger advantage than combo skills will ever give you, no matter whats the fighting game.

Darth_Revan_666

to me there is a difference between a regular "combo" and juggling. For me a combo is a stringing of moves that constantly keeps your opponents off balance, whereas juggling is exploiting an obvious game flaw. But that's just because I'm not a fighting game person, so I'm not used to it. The main difference between the two for me is that when you are just being hit by a combo, it is easier to break than being nonstop juggled in the air. Anyway, I'm not loving my chances online, since the story mode on the "beginner" difficulty setting has provided one or two tough fights. Still, I feel as though I am improving.

Juggling mechanics are BUILT-IN INTENTIONNALY. Its not an exploit. OMG why did you even bought this game if you're that whiny and ignorant about fighting games?

damn son go easy on a ni**a.....get laid or something, he didnt do nothin boss.

you get your spammers....the ones i have faced, after about the third or fourth hit with the same move you can usually find a way out of it and give them a good whipping. If they are spamming then that is most likely all they know, so once you get em in a combo...its like a prison shower scene for them.

The most effective way to do the most damage is yes...juggling....i have seen people get very good juggles and kick but. So yea, learning them is pretty importent. However I have experienced a lot of lag online and find it very hard to pull of those types of moves...so I usually find myself doing the sam 123 combos over and over.

There is matchmaking for ranked and unranked, I would think ranked matches you up with people your skill level and unrakned is just random. But I am just guessing I dont really know.

But yea...spammers usually get there ass kicked if you can get out of it. LEARN to JUGGLE! I have yet to play a game where it felt like offline thought, I have always had a considerable amount of lag unfortunetly. Hope that helped.

im not just talking about fighting games....if games like mass effect 2 and bad company 2 can have all that stuff packed into it on the same disc format mk9 uses then there is no excuse. just because mk9 is a fighting game it is exempt from packing itself full of quality stuff? i guess they should make mk the rpg to satisfy my needs according to you.

Cherokee_Jack

You can't just throw out random games from other genres as examples. Fighting games have totally different standards.

If you can't even come up with one example of a fighting game that has the amount of content you want, you have no reason to be disappointed. Unless for some reason you imagined that MK was going to have 10 times the content of the average fighting game.

TBH this just sounds like you didn't do any research before buying it. You could have found all this out easily by reading reviews.

Thats your opinion, its not a fact. Why should fighting games have different standards....that is complete bs...you know what has different standards....a fighting game on the ds as opposed to the 360. A game is a game, there are all held to the same standards IMO. Seems like you are the one who needs to do research, I expected better from someone with a million posts.

no its not...i expect more. this is 2011, we dont use catridges anymore. There are plenty of other games that how a million times more content then mk9. Cutscenes, gameplay, multiple endings, unlocks and more. And they are all on one disc. Only game I can think of that uses multiples is Lost Odyssey. MK9 does not have an excuse for this...its called being lazy.

Like what? Give me an example of a fighting game that has enough content to satisfy you.

I agree....and the endings are lame as hell too....what is this 1995, I get a damn slide show for an ending. for f###s sake there have been cgi endings for the longest time. Dont be lazy boon.

An entire story mode with cutscenes isn't enough?

Espada12

To be fair the game is packed with content.

I know what you are getting at...but I have to disagree....there are cool game modes and a great selection of characters and a good number of fatalities. But the krypt is lame...you dont need to unlock any fatalities if you know the input codes...the rest of the stuff in the krypt is art (which I could care less about) do i really need to see a sketch of a fatalitiy that boon drew that looks like a 4th grader did it. Why would I go into necropolis to listen to the music, and I could give two craps about concept art. The online is also horrid, they should have made the netcode so much more flawless. It amazes me that they made an online pass for this game and they try to justify it with the lagfest that is online. It jsut astounds me. So yea I guess there is quite a bit of content, but it is mostly garabge and useless.

I got my first victory online! Liu Kang seems to be my main character at the moment - loving the game, just flows so well.Ravensmash

are you getting lag at all. i find any game i play has at least some to a great amount of lag. at best it feels sluggish but then there are times when it is completley unplayable. I have never had a game where it was like playing offline. and i have a great connection.
