Hurrrrrrr "im a hardcore gamer and its about gameplay not graphics" like a broken hipster record, guys nintendo wanted a cheaper console which came at the expense of horsepower. Their assumption that motion gaming would be able to compensate was a risky move that had great short term returns but quickly became the outdated brick that no one touches now. The reason was developers always want to push the technological envelope and with the wii it was just a constant handicap trying to build a game using dated hardware...... so quit your defending of that mistake and hope to god nintendo puts some decent hardware in their next endeavor so devs won't wince at it and nintendo can finally have graphical fidelity with real innovation.

Most of the time the major differences can only be seen in motion I notice most multi platform games look almost identical but PS3 has a knack for frame rate drops due to V-sync (if it is indeed forced on the platform)

Holy **** the line comes down here Blu-ray doesn't make **** look better I’m so ******* sick of people saying because of Blu-ray the game looks better its merely a storage medium with a fancy name think of it as a 50Gb DVD-DL whereas the Xbox uses an 8.5 DVD-DL it’s up to developers to use the space that is given to them to whatever extent they want. Another thing is ease of use for development I like the example of the Xbox having 3 huge buckets of water and the PS3 having 7 Smaller buckets of water both have near identical capabilities both have PowerPC architectures its again just a matter of utilizing what’s there.

. If a dev team has to make a game for example Resident Evil 5 for more than one platform you've just doubled your work and as far as business standards go both have to look near identical to each other so it’s either develop your engine around a new idea of cell processing or play it safe with the traditional design that your team is already familiar with, now take that engine and fit it onto the cell and tell "it" to accommodate itself to your design and of course you’re going to have to make sacrifices. In the PlayStation's case their games have forced Vertical Sync which removes mostly unnoticeable screen tearing at the significant cost of frame rate now the Xbox doesn't force this feature which frees up room for more costly textures and overall detail. The PlayStation in order to keep a somewhat stable frame rate has to cut down in other ways like lower quality textures as V-Sync needs more memory than what should be taken from a Console (256Mb Video Memory on the RSX) and would explain why many games look worse on PlayStation. Now I also don't want people to start comparing Gears of War to Killzone 2 or Uncharted 2 to Halo or whatever crazy combo of exclusive titles you can think of, it’s ridiculous.

The Unreal Engine is another example of multi-platform middleware that can be ported to anything (yes Gears of War would run fine on a PS3 the engine is there.....) Uncharted(2) for example was built from the ground up to use those 7 buckets of water I was talking about before and it shows how using a new idea and giving it a chance can impress the industry. Now what Naughty Dog said was true Uncharted would not be possible on the Xbox 360 BUT that is because you would need to go back to the drawing board and reverse engineer the game into a new engine fit for the Xbox's needs which is where it is proven that you cannot compare an engine to an engine as it’s up to developers so if you say Naughty Dog kicked Bungie's ass go ahead if you say PS3 kicked Xbox's ass you would return your console(s) and go play outside its where you belong read a book or something just stay out of my console discussions. I'm losing track of everything I’m writing about so I’m going to abruptly end here Merry Christmas! (PS try changing your PS3's video settings and you'll find that the color output of both consoles is different so your default TV will look different for both regardless of actual picture quality.)
